From the tree was born PLANTGIRL (placeholder name), who proceeded to destroy the building out of probably spite. Name: Evan Ackerman

Sex: Nineteen

Bio: Before turning to his criminal ways, Evan - that was what he called himself - was a fluffy little bunny who was raised in one of the many laboratories scattered across Paradigm City. Like many rabbits before him, he also served as a guinea pig, testing various chemicals and undergoing several experiments for the scientist that held captive. They found it amazing that despite their tests and his age, Evan managed to survived albeit being appearing severely weakened. This was a first among the animals that they had made use of in the past, thus leading them to the assumption that they had discovered something was worth further investigation. Unfortunately for them, what they were unaware of was that they were creating a monster. Although a cute, docile ball of fur from the outside, Evan's mind and intellect began to evolve, eventually surpassing that of any animal and even some humans.  These changes only progressed even more as the days went on. Evan's body started to become larger and more lean, his mind and ability to comprehend information continued to advance, while his hatred for those that were mistreating him simply intensified. As the months passed, the facility where Evan was kept in was suddenly fell to the ground. According to what was reported by the media, no survivors were found in the wreckage that was left but according to a few witnesses, they had seen a humanoid silhouette fleeing from the scene soon after the fire started. 

Aspiration: To see Paradigm City crumble and collapse along with all the scientists and researchers employed by them.

Weakness: Reckless and has a soft spot for animals.

Power/Talent: Not only was Evan well-versed in using weapons, but he also possessed an enhanced physique. However, his most notable talent is his ability to manipulate kinetic energy.

Theme: The Villain of This Story - Machinae Supremacy

Name: Valerian "Nox" (assumed last name)

Age: 20

Sex: Male

 

Bio: Valerian was born in Blackwater Station, a slummy, poor town with next to no redeeming features unless you're the type of person who REALLY likes getting robbed. Subjectively some might call it a dump, objectively, it might as well be a city inhabited entirely my liars, killers, cheats, and thieves. Growing up in such a town almost exclusively requires joining up with one of the many gangs that divide the town. Of course, Valerian was no different from any other snot-nosed child born into Blackwater Station. He spent his childhood learning how to survive in the rough town, mentored by a fellow who went by the name Pin. Pin was a self described "phylantropist" and also a close fried of Valerian's parents, both of whom he sadly doesn't remember. As Pin told him, they were both members of The Fallen (the gang that Pin and Valerian were now part of) and had died in a turf war. Early on, Valerian displayed a talent for stealing and Pin nurtured that talent. His training tempered Valerian's natural dexterity and taught him self-defense techniques that made use of Valerian's thin build. 

 

The team of Pin and Valerian had grown to be somewhat of an urban legend in some parts of Blackwater Station. Valerian's curiosity grew exponentially as he physically did; he became increasingly more interested in books and the like, even going so far as requesting Pin to teach him how to read. Of course, reading isn't exactly a common skill in Backwater Station, and was certainly of fairly little use. Pin humored the lad, and taught him how to read and write, as well as lending him a few books that were most definitely stolen from somewhere else. When Pin decided he had grown to an acceptable age, Valerian was cast into the front lines of the ongoing gang war that had (as he was told by Pin) taken his parent's lives. Valerian performed admirably, the stealth skills learned from stealing served him well as a scout that laid traps within enemy lines. Enemy patrols would walk into a trap laid by Valerian, or sometimes they would find out that someone from a forward camp had been found dead after being left alone.

 

The war didn't carry on for much longer, however, as The Fallen's leadership pushed to begin a massive offensive on their opponent's territory. Valerian was removed from the front lines at Pin's request and he never had the chance to ask Pin why. Pin had left for the front lines, and left Valerian to take his place as a temporary second-in-command back at their home territory. In the weeks that followed, Valerian worked underneath The Fallen's leader and learned just what went into managing the gang and it's assets. The gang leader gave Valerian the nickname "Nox" and groomed him as The Fallen's treasurer, and Valerian soon found himself under control of more money than he had ever seen in his life. More than he thought he would ever see. A week after been appointing as the Treasurer, word came back to the main territory of the offensive. It was successful, the gang war was over, and The Fallen's territory had increased significantly. However, other news occupied Valerian's thoughts. Pin had apparently been killed in the fighting; the leader spoke to Valerian about Pin's death, mentioning that Pin had been incredibly ill, but wanted to die fighting for the gang that he helped found. Pin had been grooming Valerian to be his replacement the entire time, instilling into him the necessary mindset of money = power. 

 

Valerian was devastated, but vowed to continue Pin's legacy and ably serve as the gang's new Treasurer. The gang leader eventually passed away of the same illness that took Pin; his son took his place. His son went by the name of Jonothan, and he lacked even a basic understanding of finances. Jon's frivolous spending and poor leadership crippled The Fallen's ability to acquire necessary provisions, and he constantly threatened Valerian that if he didn't acquire more funds, he would be killed. Of course, Valerian did what he could, but he couldn't stem the massive amount of hemorrhaging that was being caused by Jon. The Fallen had, ironically, fallen into an extreme amount of debt with another gang that just so happened to rule an estimated 1/2 of the city. Simply through manipulating Jon, the gang simply known as The Guild had reduced The Fallen into nothing but a crumbling puppet state that submit to their every demand, lest The Guild crush The Fallen through violence. Valerian was looking over the property books in dismay one evening, when Jon and some armed goons busted into his room and when they tried to grab Valerian, they found that he was no longer there. Valerian was standing in the window a few feet from where he had previously been standing, and shot Jon and the goons a smirk. He opened up a bag in his right hand, and revealed a stash worth quite a bit of money. While Jon had been bleeding the gang dry, Valerian had redirected some funds to his own pocket. It was obvious to everyone that money was getting tighter and tighter, but no one wanted to attribute the cause as their own leader, Jon.

 

So, the next easiest target? Valerian. The Treasurer. Money was his lane, right? It was a fairly easy-to-predict result, and Valerian had expected that he would become a scapegoat. He gathered what money he could, and stalled for time as long as he could. Always ready to leave at a moment's notice. As for his mysterious disappearing? Well, Valerian had discovered that he kept waking up several feet away from his bed where he slept. Even when he tied one arm to the bed post, he still ended up on the floor. The binding hadn't been disturbed in the least. After a few more experiments, Valerian found that he could control the movement consciously. It was quite tiring and unreliable at first but it eventually paid out with an instantaneous method of moving short distances. Valerian didn't know how or why he had this power, but he decided that looking a gift horse in the mouth would be a bit foolish, wouldn't it?

 

Using his newfound power, Valerian escaped Jon and fled Blackwater Station with the money in tow. He eventually found himself in Paradigm City, and with significantly less funds as Blackwater Station's currency was hardly worth anything in Paradigm City. It pained him to part with his money, but Valerian resolved himself that he was going to make it rich in this city through the easiest way he knew. Stealing. Starting off small, Valerian eventually worked up his funds as he prepared for his first big heist.

 

Aspiration: To amass wealth and influence Paradigm City's leadership from the shadows.

Weakness: Don't mess with Valerian's money. It means a lot to him. Oh, and water. He can't swim very well.

 

Power/Talent: Teleportation (with restrictions, of course; Short range, limited use.)

Theme:  The Saints Are Coming 
Name:  Carlotta Widmer
Age: 18
Sex:  Female
Bio:  Carlotta grew up in a Catholic orphanage never finding out who her real parents are. She never cared about them, really, for the only father she needed she found in the Lord. Now, one may think that growing up in one of the Church’s institutions might imbue one with the above average degree of faith, but for Carlotta it went way beyond average and into fanatical levels that surpassed even those of the priests working with the orphans. And that was before she got her powers.

Other kids, workers at the orphanage, and other people all had different ideas as to what her powers are and how she came to have them, but in Carlotta’s mind there was no doubt. It was a gift from Heavens, a sign from God that she is to take more active part in creating his Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. So, she began to act. Every night she would hunt down and kill criminals living in the part of the city around the orphanage, gradually expanding her field of work. Corpse by corpse, she was making her city a safer place.

Needless to say, many didn’t see eye to eye with her on the matter, police being the most vocal about their disapproval. When they came to arrest her, Carlotta didn’t understand what was going on. She was doing God’s work! She was removing scum off the streets and protecting the innocents! Why are the police knocking on the door of her home, like she is the evildoer!? That day, the young orphan realized the sad state of affairs in the world and how deeply mired in corruption it was.

With this comprehension, Carlotta escaped the police and decided to change her approach. Instead of single-mindedly hunting petty scum, she will go the heart of the corruption and not destroy it, for the evil is like hydra and with each head you cut two more sprout, but take control of it and tame it. She will purify this evil and use its energy to achieve her goals. God wills it!
Aspiration: Taking control of Paradigm City and establishing Kingdom of Heaven in it.   
Weakness:  Blasphemy. She will immediately attempt to kill the one guilty of it.  
Power/Talent:  Armor of Faith - when Carlotta invokes this power her body is covered with bright white light and a pair of angelic wings appears on her back. Reduces all physical damage taken and wings can be pulled in to protect Carlotta from elements. Wings can't be used for flying (yet).

You are going to need to clarify the power.  Are the wings functional?  What exactly do you expect to be blocked by it?  Or perhaps what are things that would bypass it?
