Hi guys! Since Tokyo Ghoul has ended, let's go wild on theories. This thread's for crackpot theories. Theories with a good helping of sanity should go here:

1) Attack of the Ghouls: Kishou Arima is actually Ken Kaneki from the future. After Arima harvests Kaneki's kagune, he is sent back to the past.

Evidence: Kaneki's eyes got pierced, and it is known that a ghoul's eyes are his weak point. Kaneki's eyes didn't heal all the way, so he has to wear glasses. Further evidence is the glasses wearing Kaneki in ishida sensei's  twitter.  Arima's whitening hair could be explained by his laziness in dying his hair all the time.

CCG has medicine that "cures" half-ghouls, but leaves sides effects. Kaneki ( now Arimia) ends up with superhuman strength, but no functioning kagune like Koyomi from Monogatari. This is why Arima was so happy when Kaneki evolved. He was finally getting a quinque that would suit him all too well!

In addition, many think, it is Arima in the final two page spread of chapter 143, and it is. It's young Kaneki/Arima the investigator with a brief case ( i mean ixa), who will soon get a growth spurt. Reasons for Kaneki/Arima behavior up till now: protect his own existence. He's still going to bridge the gap between humans and ghouls and rescue eto somehow ...

2) Arima has horse/s 有馬, because that's what his name means in chinese. That's what the horse-like thing in the clouds on the last page of 143 is. He's also gonna kiss yo arm!

So Kaneki literally would be a jack in the box? Always thought Arima would represent "JACK" but I guess it's Kaneki's turn xD

Arima is only ten years older than Kaneki though. If they are related, maybe Arima could be his half-brother or something along the lines.

The ghoul Hunters have taken all the possible steps they can, they are on the edge of a plateux, as far as tactics and power go, the next logical step, obviously, is the creation of what was in the good Drs Lab; synthetic Ghouls.

In much the same way that the Ghouls are territorial, whoever is controlling the hunters is also territorial, dramatically so, whoever controls an area, has the pick of the banquet.

thus, I suspect that a Ghoul is amusing themselves at their preys expense by clearing out an area with the use of the ghould Hunters. to wit, behind the CCG, is a greater organisation of Ghouls pulling the strings.

Its damn cheesy, but 石田-San could perhaps pull it off? they have dealt with other mindless tropes rather well.

"Arima = Kaneki"... blew my mind. Would explain the last page of 143...

1) Studio Pierrot was used solely for the name, despite their tendency to move the plot around and add tons of filler.

 

2) Arima is Kaneki's half brother from his father with a ghoul mother from ten years ago. Kaneki's father suffered from irreparable damage, leading to early death. As for how Kaneki came to be: artificial insemination.  

 

3) Kaneki's father was a CCG officer, who died in the same battle as Touka-chan's mother.

 

4) This was all a dream that brought to the surface Kaneki's desire to help the less fortunate.

 

5) We hate Uta now, but he will also have a sobby backstory.

 

6) Aogiri Tree will actually succeed in their goal of world domination by spreading their seeds through the human populations: producing artificial half-ghouls, impregnating human females, taking the sperms of human males, and encouraging their own population to copulate. There will be no one who does not know a ghoul or is not related to a ghoul. Ghouls will finally have the same rights as humans. No actually, more. That is why Anteiku had to be eliminated. They submitted to the human-dominated regime. 

 

7) Ayato and Hinami will get together. That way, when Kaneki and Touka become a couple, they will all be related. There's always Hinami and Hide. 

 

8) CCG knows how to produce artificial human meat, but they haven't told anyone.

 

9) CCG has a "cure" for ghoul, but they haven't told anyone. 

 

10) The reason CCG still uses humans, instead of robots, to combat ghouls is because, they use the investigator's human body to attract ghouls, besides high costs. Body armor also feeds on human sweat and blood.

 

11) Tsuneyoshi Washuu is a ghoul.

It won't pass as a seinen manga anymore. So the next time you see CCG, their quinques will be light saber types that shoot lightning bolts like Arima.

Ehh.... i don't mind more fantastic elements, but I really hope they don't shift the target audience that much. Part of what makes this series awesome is the graphic nature of it. This series would not be the same without Yamori, and there's no way that would have happened in a shonen manga.

My one and only crack theory is we'll see a ghoul civil war.

1) Ken Kaneki ( 金木 研)  gold wood researcher

His new name at CCG will be ==> En Kuroki (黒木 苑) black woods garden

2) Ishida will tease readers by drawing Arima with a briefcase, but hiding Kaneki in the background, with only a voice bubble drawn multiple times. He is well aware of quineki rumors.

3) Kaneki will be ordered to wear a Darth Vadar mask by CCG to hide his identity.

4) Ken Kaneki was never existed. It was always Karin Kaneki.

5) Ken Kaneki's father was a CCG researcher, who genetically enhanced his son. That's why Kaneki is so good at using textbook martial arts in real life, and makes such a good artificial ghoul. Arima was his father's finest creation. They are brothers in a way. 

6) Kishou and Ken are real brothers.

7) Ghouls discover a certain species of monkeys are edible.

8)All out war between V, CCG, Anteiku 2.0, and Aogiri Tree.

9) Ghoul investigator Kaneki will use a quinque that is strangely familiar. 

10) Kaneki will becomes farsighted and require reading glasses. This will deter him from reading, but give him the feeling that something is off. 

11)Kaneki is now a hermaphrodite, and he will make 3/4 ghoul babies with Touka and Tsukiyama. Tsukiyama will beg for the baby because he has problems keeping love and food separate. 

12) Kaneki is now in Alaska. His snow white hair blend in with the snow and glisten in the moonlight. Many nosebleeds and squeals will result.
