The Violet Hour
Premise:
Every night, right when the moon reaches its zenith, violet fog begins to roll out of the Old Wood, filling the town with thick, billowing clouds carrying enchantments most foul. Those afflicted are cursed to a sleep from which they will not wake. For the 5 months since the fog first appeared, the earliest victims have remained in their deep slumber, deaf to the cries of their mourning families and friends, and ignorant to the enchanted fog that continues to terrorize the town.
The source of this enchanted fog is the cruel forest witch, Isolda. Living within the deepest reaches of the Old Wood, among poisonous plants and feral beasts, Isolda spreads her terrible power throughout the lands for reasons no person in Rosehollow can understand. Perhaps she has finally grown tired of living in the darkness of her forest kingdom, or perhaps she just wants to snuff out the happiness of the villagers of Rosehollow, as evildoers are wont to do. None but the forest witch herself know for sure.
There are those that have left Rosehollow, fleeing the curse, but many still remain. Some refuse to leave the land of their birth, and some simply lack the means; others still remain to stay with their loved ones who are afflicted by Isolda's cruel curse, and there are even those who wish to slay the foul witch, hopefully ending the curse by ending Isolda's life.
These people who remain have sought help. Though they first contacted the capital, Merchant King Tybalt deemed Rosewood too remote, too unimportant to send his personal army. The people of Rosewood then were forced to seek the help of noble adventurers who would lend their aid—with a reward of gold and jewels, of course.
Where y'all fit in:
What exactly do adventurers do that makes them fit for this task of heroism and bravery, you ask? Why, all manner of things! If you wish to travel the lands, there is good reason to fear wild animals, brigands, foul creatures, even fouler wizards, and et cetera. To be prepared for that, some level of martial or magical ability is required. As such, adventurers have such abilities. Well, the good ones do, anyways—the bad ones die.
So here you are, some warrior or wizard or whatever the hell it is you want to be. You are in this village and these poor little village people want you to help them. Nearby are other adventurers who may be new faces to you, or they may be familiar. At the end of the day it's not that big of a deal. From this point onward, you will form an adventuring troupe to save the day using your many skills and wiles to outsmart and outfight Isolda, the rude and hurtful witch lady.
Because the village is small, the reward they have to give is limited. How limited? I haven't decided yet, but basically that means that acceptance into the rp will be capped off.
Character Sheet:
[Appearance]
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Adventuring Goals: Use this as a biography section. What I want to know isn't really where you were born or every inane detail, but what specifically caused you to go to this village to lend your assistance—essentially, tell me why you are an adventurer and tell me how those adventuring dreams you have caused you to end up here in the village of Rosehollow.
Adventuring Abilities: A quick run down of what it is that makes you an adventurer. Include things related to combat, but also include things more related to your specific adventuring goals. For example, if you're a bounty hunter of some sort, you need skills to find targets; if you're a dungeoneering treasure hunter, you need the skills to survive the dungeon crawling and whatnot. Be creative within limits—if I feel you make your character too powerful, I'll let you know. Power level of the rp is not intended to be ridiculously high—it's not even intended to be all that high at all!
Inventory: Be realistic, you are the size of a person and cannot carry too many things.
Meta Info:
Acceptance will NOT be first come first serve. Much like Sangre did with Tokio Funka, I'll just be taking the characters I think are the best. I will work with you during the character creation process and be as transparent as possible about what I think constitutes a character that will be accepted. Overall I'm not too picky, so most people will likely not need to change that much.
No firearms—this is fantasy.
idk maybe I'll add more here later.
