The trap magician.
Power is switching genders of the opponent.
Gets stronger by each trap ally.
Inevitable fan service scenes.

Because we have a magic category with points, is there really a reason to have a magic stat as well? Couldn't we just use the magic category as how powerful we are with magic? Idk just feels right to NOT follow Mashima's plans.

What do stats in RP have to do with Mashima?
But you make a valid point.

Not that I'm Vaf or anything, but it seems to me that the Magic stat represents the character's overall magic power while the techniques represent our versatility.
This is a terrible example, but it's a bit like Pokemon- you have the Attack and Sp Attack stats that determine how hard a give pokemon hits, but you also have types that can give them a bit of versatility over what moves they gain bonuses for and sometimes covering one of the other type's weaknesses at the cost of additional weaknesses (note that Sableye and Spiritomb have no part in this example), so you can think of the Magic stat like our Sp Atk while the Techniques are our types.
Mashima is a punk and anything I don't like I put his name on it!!
That seems a little excessive...
I do the same but instead of Mashima I put Ohkubo
That's meant to be a portmanteau of Oh Great and Kubo?
Myself, as told by a Hawk;

Slice's got it right.
You can be a skillful mage but one who's magic does not have a lot of oumf to it. Or vice versa.
The magic remains dependent on the natural capabilities of its user. If you don't have much magic capacity, but you've got a good mind for how to use the magic you've got, you can beat out someone with more magic.
Of course, when you meet someone with more magic and more magic skill, you'll just get stomped (bar a clever stratagem).

You act prudish in OOC, then you make a character in chainmail bikini (or something very close to it).

Nonsense. I don't ever recall doing that. Most characters I make are relatively very well dressed or heavily armored. ._.
The only difference I think is Remy. She wears some more er...flowing garments.
