A few more questions on naming:

フルラット I can't find the possible English or otherwise equivalent.

ドリアーヌ I'm using Dorian at the moment, but not quite sure. It's also the race name after all. From Dryad I was originally thinking something like Dryanne... Kanji reads something like flower headed girl.

There's a lot more I'm not sure of actually. Rather, most of them. Would you mind taking a look to see if I have anything down wrong?

Here's the link.

o-o oh well, I'll leave that to the translators then. I only ever read the first characters for names.

Garuda... you mean this? I believe that's too loose a connection to have any meaning towards Jade Eagles.

Good job for actually looking it up!  But no, I'm referring to the mythical garuda.

I don't know about that. I admit I'm no expert at this, but Chinese has a LONG history. Far longer than Buddhism. If anything, I'd say the Indians and those other countries are influenced by the Chinese culture. I can't relate the two, or how it connects to the Jade Eagle, if not for javan hawk-eagle being an eagle as well, and that eagle being linked from Garuda's page.

Then again, I probably just overlooked something.

eh, pre-shang is near the very beginning of recorded history of china, it predated buddhism (look up animism, it's one of the earliest practiced form of religion).  The pre-buddhism version were thought to be blessings and guardians and it wasn't until buddhism arrived from india that the garuda got tied to the "disastrous winds" (which is actually pretty close to the power said to be possessed by the chinese phoenix, that's why there's that story where the "Son of Heaven" shouldn't only admire it and never try to capture it).

You might want to re-read my previous post again cause you pretty much repeat what I said, except for the part where it got converted into the different versions via games.

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Garuda_(Summon)

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Garuda_the_Wind_Spirit

Can't remember the other games that had it, I remember using the garuda fragments to forge shit and as an wind elemental boss in some TBS.

Also, no idea on those kata name yet, I won't bother until the TL catches up.

So about that Giant Wind Eagle. What if it's Hræsvelgr? Since in Japanese, it's apparently pronounced like Furesberg.

Was reading through the Jade Eagle segment again, then I suddenly recalled the Hræsvelgr/Furesberg from Wakusei no Samidare and the latter spelling somewhat resembles  ファレーズエーグル in my translator (although the -guru sound at the end seems like it would come from the Hræsvelgr instead of Furesberg).

Wait, where are you getting all this from? I'm heavily suspecting I forgot something important. It's not just simple 'ol Jade Eagle?

Similar mythology to the buddhist garuda (both belong to the same archtype), so that's highly possible.  The abilities might be slightly off though.  We will know more when we get there in the TL.

Oh, uh, got it here.

Specifically, this part

【四翼大鷲(ファレーズエーグル)・亜種】

Mecab tells me that the part in parenthesis reads phonetically as farezueguru. The first three syllables sound close enough to "Fures", but the "-guru" sound seems like it comes from "Hraesvelgr". I'm just guessing, though.

Also, seeing as how the Jade Eagle is the boss of the mountain and leads a flock of eagles in devouring people who try to cross it, it seems to really fit the myth associated with Hræsvelgr.

A cosmic eagle of Norse belief that sits on top of the world and beats its wings creating the wind. It is known by the name ‘corpse-eater’ which is linked to the tradition of leaving a dead body out in the open of a icy land that’s ground is too hard to dig. The body is then consumed quickly by predatory birds.

I mean. That's pretty much the only information I can find about Hræsvelgr at all, except for this one deviantart picture that depicts it with 4 wings.

http://tapejara.deviantart.com/art/Midgard-Hraesvelgr-323844626

It's, uh, not a very good picture. And I have NO IDEA why the guy decided to draw it with 4 wings.

I've seen a mural with garuda depicted as a 4 winged bird once or twice wiping out a village with tornadoes and waves (can't remember if it was thailand or not).

But Hræsvelgr is a very likely candidate, just that it doesn't have mastery of the winds (refer to abilities gained) and the location is in an hot, arid area (I got the feeling it's like arizona/texas/mexico, the almost desert region) and not a cold tundra.  But the author tend to use a lot of western mythical creatures (look at black wolf's evolution), so I really don't know at this point.  It can be just his own creation or amalgamation of the mythic wind-bird archtype.

Yes and no, the one the Fate/Extra targets an individual with many different types of spears and polearms.  The one here is uniformly of one spear and multiple individuals in a fixed radius.  I was tempted to add it to the reference (there's another one in vol 2 that's unmistakably a Fate reference)
