It's a bit like those four blind guys all feeling a different part of an elephant and thinking its something different because none of them have the whole picture. Gypsy families have all involved the vast majority of the suppositions in their past at some point or another. But what a lot of people forget is that gypsies also possessed skills that once made the rest of the world envy them. Arts, crafts, dances, music, all of this and more was the pride of those few gypsy families that sought, not to deceive, but to awe and astound those around them. One such family was the Ayres family. In particular, the Aryeses possessed a flair for music and dance. They passed secrets to the arts of movement and song down through their line for generations, and each member sought only to bring a little joy to those that stopped to watch and listen by the road. They had no desire to swindle the men and women about them of their well-earned money- why would they, when those that warmed to them were happy to give them tribute for their songs? And yet, despite all their good nature, there still was suspicion. Despite all they did for the community in which they found themselves, the Aryeses were still looked on by some with cruelty and hatred in their eyes. Rumors spread that they were not, in fact, well-mannered gypsies, but the craftiest of all the thieves. That they made their wealth through trickery and sleight of hand rather than through their art and hard work. This family that had once delighted one and all in Europe was soon barred from the very places that had thrown open their doors only a year before. But they were not beaten. They had not endured for years only to be destroyed because of a fall from the graces of the populace. They had lived in the public's distrust before; they could do it again. And so they did. The Aryes survived, lived, and carried their line through to today. And still, their art thrives, particularly within Javert Aryes and his fraternal twin Esmerelda. She exhibits the family's incredibly flexibility and motion in her dances, he their dexterity and rhythm in his music. But, though there their gifts are great, they are unrefined; to temper them, their mother has sent the twins on a grand tour of the world to absorb the culture and learn from them. First stop: Sato, Japan! Personality: Javert is very much a romantic in personality. No, not the "I am God's gift to women" Casanova jackass romantic, the one that sees beauty in everything and loves nothing more than to sit in a field and play notes on his mandolin until they form a song. He also professes to be an expert on the language of love, and prides himself on his ability to teach anybody, from the school jock to the cheer captain to the shy girl to the lowliest nerd, how to whisper sweet nothings in the ears of the object of their affections and snare their heart. "Look here my friend, love is not a complicated affair. It's like writing poetry; you don't need a rhyme scheme or a meter or any of that complicated crap. All you need is a song, a verse, and some inspiration. You've got that last one in spades, so let me handle the other two, alright?" Specialty: Javert is a master of reading and manipulating mood. A single person or a crowd, it's very difficult to hide thoughts and feelings from him, and it's very easy for him to play to whatever he reads. Inventory: Mandolin & tuning kit, deck of cards.
