Hi guys, maybe some of you guys know me and maybe some don't. I'm the translator of The Gamer for BAPScans.

 

Background story

If you guys didn't know, kista from Mangacow (which I also used to translator for before) was working with our group for the past couple months and we had a bit of a fallout. With the original admins of the BAPScan leaving sometime around the beginning of 2014, I kind of foresaw this coming. Having worked with kista before, I knew he would end up taking a project from BAPScans for mangacow... which I have no problem with.

As a reader as much as you guys (in fact, probably a bigger and more experienced reader), I understand your point of view. As much as I agree that stealing a project from a group is an asshole move, I don't particularly disagree with it when the release is slow or the quality is low. 

 

Simply said, this is a problem the Company is facing with the Tower of God. With an easily available RAW, it's very tempting for a group to try and take the project from another. The Company releases their chapter, fully cleaned, typesetted, and in the best quality. However, their release comes 4 or more days later than the release of the RAW, and I know there is a speed translation of from another group as well. With the popularity I've seen from The Gamer, what is happening now is something that couldn't be avoided.

 

 

Main point

Long story short. BAPScans is most likely to dissolve with possibly a new group rising from its rubble (eloquent, I know). I suggested BAPScans to pick up Gamer 1 month before its ch1 was even out (as I knew it from its Best Challenge days). When I began, I had no idea it would become such a popular manhwa with around 8k followers on Batoto (I assumed around 2k~3k at most). 

Let me say that I don't mind other groups picking this project up. What I do care about is that they produce a satisfactory result that I, as a reader, can enjoy. Although BAPScans's release was slow, I enjoyed working with them as they've put more effort into the project's proof reading, cleaning, and typesetting than any other group I've worked with over the years.

 

Therefore, to any potential group/translators. I am willing to distribute my translation notes for The Gamer. It contains names, spellings, terminology , ranking system, etc. This should help make the translation CONSISTENT with the previous chapters which is the biggest worry I have with changing translators. I've contributed over 200+ chapters to the community in the numerous projects I've worked on over the years. I think it's about time I go into hibernation again.

 

PS. my translation notes (aka just a random list of names) are pretty messy xP

Thanks for your translation work, and thanks for bringing The Gamer to the table. It is an interesting manhwa.

Hey FudgeNouget!  Just want to pass on a heartfelt thanks for the translations and effort you have put in to a number of manhwa you have done.  Of the 20 or so manga/manhwa I follow weekly, The Gamer is the only one I check the progress of, look at the raws, and act out other OCD behaviors.  The quality has been superb and I hope others take you up on your offer.  Heck, I can clean, maybe typeset hmm..  Now wouldn't that be OCD behavior to get my gamer translation.

This webtoon is something I look out for every week. It's without exaggerating, my most favorite webtoon, and possibly even overall comic of this moment.

anyway former members of Bap Scans should continue releasing gamer on Oneora.net ... so let's see how things will work out.
