Hello all,
Just wanted to start a thread about the raws, discussions of spoilers, and possible later events.
I'm not a native korean speaker so this is just a summary of the gist of what I got from reading the raws. Afterlife: The afterlife seems to be a very cutthroat place where people attack each other and attempt to steal tickets. Generally, the more tickets you have the more powerful you are and the more you're targeted by other people, including the wraiths. So far (ch 120) there appears to be 5 different races/powers: spirits (red), wraiths (blue), monkeys/Buddha (green), oni's (yellow), and ?? (purple). Spirits are dead people, like Gwangnam, who typically change their "form" (bodies) using darkpower so that they can fight. Their form may have weapons, enhance their speed, strength, etc, or give them abilities such as flight. Spirits typically want to go to heaven so try to collect 100 tickets through all different types of hunting: noobie hunting, powerful spirits forcing weaker ones to hunt for them, spirits close to 100 targeting others close to 100, etc. It is unknown if you can steal all of a spirits tickets at one time; however, more commonly seen is stealing all but 1 and then removing the final ticket, after which the body becomes a monster and soul is damned to hell. Wraiths are the envoys of death and typically use weapons to fight. Some examples of weapons seen so far include: cards that cause different effects, beer bottles that form a baton/spear, and a compact mirror that traps people inside it. They usually have a death phone that allows them to locate entities in the area, identify spirits by picture, and get bulletin updates about wanted spirits. Gwangnam becomes a wanted spirit for beating up and stealing from Jusa. It also appears that Wraiths hunt spirits that get close to 100 tickets (potentially to increase their own power) though the example shown later in the series may just be a special case like Gwangnam. The Wraiths seem to have a hierarchical structure like a company for performing their task and have a sour relationship with the Oni's. Buddha is a very special existence who is able to communicate with people in the living world and connect spirits with the living through dreams. This ability is sought after by many spirits, which causes an entire city and economy to build up around the spirits waiting to see him, which is run by the Oni's. The monkeys act as body guards for Buddha and are extremely strong. This party seems to be neutral between the fore mentioned groups (spirits, wraiths, and oni's) though more strongly tied to the oni's and spirits. Oni's are a gang like organization that runs the city surrounding Buddha and usually have 1-2 horns. They seem to be less strict or rule based, though very much like a mafia when related to the money of the afterlife. Gang members usually use a spiked bat for fighting and keep the peace in the city, preside over the line (accepting bribes/donations to advance people faster), and probably collect some form of taxes ("protection fees"). They are run by an older Oni who while very strong is ailing and spends a lot of time resting. The ?? is to represent a mysterious entity only seen by Gwangnam in his mind when his initial ticket is ripping apart, which would cause his band to fall off and damn him to hell. The entity shows up as a young boy in purple who frequently plays with sand and spits into it. Upon waking, Gwangnam displays purple coloring and an incredible increase in power. It's likely this person is death and is lending Gwangnam power as he becomes closer to hell.
Please feel free to add sections for Characters, Plot, the living world etc.
