As my interest in the story was waning, I wasn't really all that excited for the Anime. Then I watched an episode and realized that SHAFT was directing it and had...well...SHAFT'd it up. I love me some SHAFT surrealism, but I'm not sure it fits a generic love-com. Kinda gave me a weird feel. Spent a lot of time looking at shoes too...
Thoughts on the Anime?

I liked the art. I hate the color scheme, over-lays, straight up insanity of the background. Reminds me of BTS without the slap stick comedy included that made such things acceptable. Got past about 1 minute after the intro and immediately quit watching. Sad considering it could have been really good.

Art sucked.
Shaft tried too hard on Nisekoi, I finished watching an episode for like an hour.
They should've placed their own style subtlely and not slapping it on the viewer's face like every episode.
'THIS ANIME IS MADE BY SHAFT. REMEMBER MONOGATARI AND SZS? WE MADE IT TOO'

just saw the 4th episode. the visual gags have slowed down drastically, now the story can be followed, only the rhythm looks a bit off somehow. But i managed to arrive to the end of the episode so i think it's an improvement.

I have to say that the art wasn't quite what I expected and I wanted more of a 'normal' rom-com -style. But.. it's not bad actually, I think SHAFT is has done pretty good job with this overall.

nah, visual gags are back even stronger than before. it's a damned romcom you dont really have to change a frame every 1.5 secs.

looks more like a videoclip from MTV or a commercial than an anime.

Now i got what's the problem i have with this anime.
It's bidimensional, i mean visually. It has no depth. Characters move like puppets sliding over still backgrounds; there are no other people, just still shapes; there is no background sound, only the main characters talking. It's like some minimalistic modern theater piece. There are times where the same frame is kept still for 5-8 seconds while a voiceover goes on and on and on.
And then there are those random slomo closeups, with a head turning, an eye moving, a butt spinning, slooooowly.
Then out of nowhere things speed up for no reason at all.
This randomness is unbearable. It's not even funny like that on FLCL.
