i've probably failed haven't I?

 

I've tried quite a bit on how to do images but it keeps on showing up empty. I can't find the preview button too. This is what I've been trying to do:

img= IMAGE LINK

[/spoiler]

 

But the spoiler part keeps on coming up empty.

 

why the "ignore" part? It doesnt make sense? Are you trying to make the post ignore the spoiler or...?>.>''... ofc it doesnt work.

 

Here is some formal codes using spoilers: (if you are too lazy to do preview or whatcase maybe)

 You may save them somewhere for reference~ Dont copy and paste them.It wont work~

[spoiler] Text [/spoiler]         <--- (used for only words)
[spoiler] Text [img=] [/spoiler]           <--- (used text comes before image) 
[spoiler] [img=] text [/spoiler]           <--- (used for image before text)

[spoiler] Text [spoiler] [url=][img=][/url][spoiler] text [/spoiler][/spoiler][/spoiler]   
^(used for spoilers within an spoiler.Combined with an linked-image and text)^

The fourth one is more advanced with combination. You may always switch the img, url link, texts around. the [/spoiler] will always be at the end of each format code.

 

I guess it depends on what you are using but basically there is only two steps to preview.

 

Click "More reply Options" and then simply click "preview post"

I read through the thread hoping to understand how to do a spoiler with your own images, I got how to do it with url -I think. However, I am still unclear how to do it with my own media. BTW I have tried using the "My Media" tab with no luck. Please, help. Thank you in advance.

Short answer: you don't use 'my media', period.
 
Longer answer:

In a thread (out of potato hell and I think forum games too) when you click 'more reply options' you'll get this:

Click 'choose files', select file(s) from your drive, upload.

If you click 'add to post' you'll get this attachment tag (post preview and code on teh pic)

As for My Media button: it allows you to manage already uploaded stuff

You can use it to place already uploaded files in other posts

Also: just forget about it. You have 1MB of storage space, so unless it's something important or you'll use a lot just pick some file storage site to upload your files to and then just post links to files there when needed.

[My media] will only work if you had attach any image on batoto forum before. Meaning if in your #s of posts on batoto forum, you done attachment, then you can use [my media].

If you have done attachment before on batoto forum, then you simply
Click on [my media], click "attachment" on the left tab.
It will show you all the attachments you posted before in the forum.
Simply select the image and click "finish".

If you haven't done it before, it is simple. When you create an thread, or when you reply, click the "more reply options".
There, you scroll down and see an "Attach Files" attachment section.This section
Is optional. But you can upload up to 838.34KB per file
Then just post it.

Remember that batoto only allows up to 4.88*mb attachment.
To delete attachment from the system, you go to your "My setting".
Click "manage Attachment" and select the only you want to delete.then "Delete". You only can delete images. To upload attachment
Go to thread you want to post an attachment to , follow back
Instructions to attach.

If this is confusing, I will post an step-by-step using image next time.

Okay, thanks that explains a lot. Do you have an external recommendation for storing files, one that works well with batoto?

Any that lets you download files without registration or some crazy cooldowns will do. Personally I use mediafire for more permanent files and random temporary hostings for files that can be passed to someone and then deleted (you can google for 'temporary file hosting' to get various sites offering one-time downloads or deleting files after X hours). Other popular hostings are dropbox and 4shared.

For images-only, imgur and tinypic seem to be the most popular choices. puu.sh for more temporary imeji (files deleted after month of not being viewed). There's minus with nice storage space, but they closed normal registration and if you want to make a new account to keep your files together you're forced to download their app (which sucks for people not having a smarthpone).

No, you can upload up to the current free space (which is max 1mb and becomes smaller with each file you upload).

When uploading series release, batoto will accept any media filer thingys like media fire...

But in forum you upload only 838.43 KB which will most like ly be an image. Any other type you can only share it by linking the URL
to the destination.

@ ponies Lol I know I added that part toward the end.
But it does confuse members when it says it over there xd

Here I just uploaded a 1MB (1 048 576 bytes) in one file:

There's no limit on files or their size per se, but there's a max storage space set, so any upload over that space won't be accepted. There's no separate "file has to be X KB max" restriction. If you have ~186 KB of files in your my media, then your max-size-allowed will be ~838 KB. If it's empty, then it's 1024 KB.

Grrr, so I have done everything that you guys recommended and its still not working, I just get image icon. I am using dropbox. I have set the image to be shared/linked in dropbox. Also here is th code I have:

Ah because drop box isn't one of those image sharing where if you click on link it will open all the image attachments...

IMG will only work with links that ends in .gif,.jpg,PNG...
You can only link the URL using _[URL=] [|URL] code.
Or simply by pasting the URL to your post.

Off topic: If not for the one in the middle wearing white, I would've found this questionable... Just kidding.

 

I right-clicked on the image and either used "Copy Link Location" or "View Image Info" on Firefox. It shows me a "photo.dropbox" subdomain. I believe there are similar context menu items on chrome.

Since some people can't be bothered to reread the thread:

(...) click "more reply options" (or if you edit your post, "use full editor") and abuse the preview option till you get it right. If it works in preview, it'll work after posting. (...)

In other words: if the preview doesn't work, you did something wrong - try again; if the preview works, DON'T post it afterwards.
 
You can also use Message Composer for this purpose without specifing anyone in the recipent field.
