So guys, this part of the forum seems mostly dead, is it because there are only manga here?

Anyway. You shall talk about what light novel you are currently reading, why did you start reading it and if you want/have time tell us how did you come across it, a description (with your words!) and the genre.

I would really like to chat about light novels after having found the best (to my opinion) among them:

"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"

It's about the 20 y/o guy (Lee Hyun) who had a lot of problems (what proper MC doesn't have them?) like losing both parents and being forced to work and to not eat to somehow let his little sister and grandma always have something eat. After he sold his account for 3,1 billion won, the next day he had already lost 3 billions to debt collectors. Having discovered that gaming could make that much money, he decided to "transform" into a dark gamer and play "Royal Road" the first and most advanced Virtual Reality MMORPG.

Really cool tho the translation are a bit shitty. Currently it's scanlated up to vol 15 ch 6 but in Korea the lastest volume is the 41 and is still ongoing. Started reading it cause I was bored and I was also trying to procrastinate on my homework lol

I'm currently reading other LNs, but let's get this thread started, yes?

Too bad I don't have the money, I'd buy spice and wolf too ç.ç

Mahouka Kouko no Rettousei is amazing, I can't wait to see the next arc (I'm at vol 11, you?) :3

Is SAO worth reading? Cause I saw lots of people saying they are reading it.. just saying but I really liked the anime but I don't really have the need to read the novel

- The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor. Can't wait for the next summaries of vol 41's chapters <3
It's my favorite LN together with...
- Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, another masterpiece.

I also read
- Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance : a bit too...childish ? But it has its dark side, like Nepenthes Lore who was awesome.
- Heavy Object : I like it very much but there aren't many volumes yet.
- Highschool DxD : it started interesting then it when boob boob boob boob. I am still following it because the almost non existent storyline in the later volumes is still interesting.
- 1/2 Prince : it was a pain to read it
- Legend of the Sun Knight : I liked it but I got bored at some point. I know what happened because I read summaries tho~

Edit :
I forgot I am also reading Ark but I am a bit behind because I've read the google translated versions of the first volumes and I don't really feel like reading the same stuff again with proper translations yet.

Yes, Mahouka is a masterpiece.

Before the "edit" part I actually thought ' I wonder if he read Ark ' ( :o ) I'm on par with the translations, and they aren't all that bad if you aren't a grammarnazi. Are you reading it at Japtem?

I dropped blade dance at chapter 3, I really couldn't stand it. Most of the chara there are the type I hate.

I began reading Heavy Object about 2 days ago, it seems cool but it seems too easy for the MC (I'm only at ch 2 tho)..

this is what I'm currently reading (excluded the ones already mentioned):

-Gakusen Toshi Asterisk (the description of the manga was interesting and then I found out that it was based off a novel)

-No Game No Life (a cool novel about gamers and their hate for the "shitty game" reality is!)

-Tsurugi no Joou to Rakuin no Ko (this reminds me of zero no tsukaima even tho they have very little in common)
-Log Horizon (I wanted to see the differences with the anime)

-To Aru Majutsu no Index (I like this but I read it only once in a while)

-Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (I find this one particularly interesting, but I don't have time to read this periodically)

-Owari no Chronicle (I'm unsure as to continue with this one..)

-Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou (I liked the anime and I wanted to know what happened later)

and this are the ones I wanna read:

-Maou na Ore to Fushihime no Yubiwa! (to me it seems like a better version of high school dxd so I decided to give it a chance)

-Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha (dunno I like the title but the plot is so-so)

-Absolut Duo (the manga is shit. Not the story but the drawings. The artist has 1~2 months and in chapter 4 it's not only rushed as plot but the drawings are unfinished. Thus is why I wanna read the novel )

-Cube x Cursed x Curious (I love Fear-chan.)

-Date A Live (Lots of people are saying it's actually good)

-Shissou Suru Shishunki no Parabellum (why isn't no one translating this çAç)

-Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden (found today!)

Maybe "Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria" but it's mostly fantasy and I'm still at vol 1 so I can't say for certain, sorry ^^"

EDIT: maybe also Golden Time, but I don't think that there isn't a love triangle. In fact, already in manga is difficult to not find one, a really annoying thing if I may say so.

Yeah, I read Ark and LMS at Japtem.

Haha some of Blade Dance characters are really annoying~
I am 100% certain the MC from Heavy Object disagrees with you hehe. But he manages his way out of almost everything I guess.

-To Aru Majutsu no Index (I like this but I read it only once in a while)
-Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou (I liked the anime and I wanted to know what happened later)
-Cube x Cursed x Curious (I love Fear-chan.)

I watched the animes and it didn't give me the will to read what comes after.
Now I say that but even if I really really want to read the Monogatari LN series, I just don't have the strenght lol

Yeah, I love Nisio's work, but the Monogatari saga is too big >A>

Just finished the All You Need Is Kill light novel. It was translated by a professional so it read like a charm. Really good, fast-paced action coupled with a touch of comedy, slang, and everything you'd expect in a typical war-themed novel. Definitely recommend it, even as a light read (took me two hours to finish it). (:

I've liked both LMS & MKnR, despite some of the translation issues, but I've struggled to find any other LN's that come on par.

Log Horizon, reading vol6 it is quite good.

I don't like Krusty, so everytime there are scenes of him I cringe a little, but it's a good LN nonetheless.

I've got the Monogatari series, Fate/Zero, and Kara no Kyoukai bookmarked. Not sure when was the last time I actually read them though.

I've got some bookmarked LNs that I haven't read in a while too lol

I tried reading Campione, but I didn't find it that exciting, I read only two or three chaps, at the time I was reading all of LMS 's volumes so I didn't find Campione as stimulating as that. Care to give me more motivation to give it a try once again?

I've liked both LMS & MKnR, despite some of the translation issues, but I've struggled to find any other LN's that come on par.

Have you tried Mokushiroku Arisu? It's only one volume for now, but It's good.
