Not that it really matters one way or the other, but I think this is actually a shounen title. It's published in Square Enix's GFantasy which carries almost exclusively shounen titles. MU certainly has it as shounen.
Oh well, like I said, its demographic doesn't really matter, there's lots of sex in both shoujo and shounen titles. I thought this one was done really well. Very tactful and mature. I mean c'mon, they're not only practically adults but have (both) been presented as being extremely mature as well. So yeah, no surprise really I wouldn't think.
GFantasy has a lot of "Shounen for girls" like Black Butler. It's a pretty weird mag that's sort of not what it seems in terms of demographic. I'd be curious to know how many girls are subscribed to it.
This series has two main characters of different sex and you learn of them through not only them but through their group of friends. I don't know how well it's selling but I feel like it's a great mag for this work to be in.
what the hell.. umm chapter 37... Im really tired and kinda skimmed it, i'll have to read it more thoroughly later but can anyone confirm something for me?
SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY::
umm did they just totally have sex? Seems to be pretty heavily implied unless i just imagined something because im so tired. But she seemed naked in the scene afterward. Very surprising, i thought this was kinda a more light manga, surprised that theyre going more realistic like that. Not disapointed just kinda surprised. Just wondering if thats definitely what happened. The set up for it seemed kinda weak for such a key point in the series
They did have sex. I guess people are used to the shoujo formula : X chapter, first hand holding, Y chapter First Kiss, Z first passionate kiss, A first grope, B first cockblock, C IT'S SEX TIEMM!!.
A lot of shoujo follow this formula in some ways, this is one of the weakness when it comes to the demographic. It really feels like you've read the same romance story over and over. All those "firsts" are probably checkmarks the mangaka does for his work, sort of like a Harlequin romance novel is always the same plot with different name and settings. Shojo tropes are real as it gets.
Shounen is even worse, no development for years and finally a kiss at the end, fast forward and children + marriage!
It's good once in awhile to skip the usual formula and go for something that's unique to the couple, so to speak. It makes them feel more real and less of a "character".
