Spoiler
First of all, the very first chapter, we see some scouts out in the woods fighting a titan, and then strangely we cut to Eren who has apparently been napping for quite some time, and then after he wakes up he starts crying. We still have no idea what the hell that was all about, nor do we really know what Eren was injected with. WAS it that injection that gave him the power to transform? Or did he always have that power and the injection did something else?
Also, when they were all in training together, it seemed that the guy who was in command knew one of Eren's parents. But he didn't seem to ever say anything to Eren about this fact. Why? Who was that guy?
And I mean then there is this whole business with the Hairy Titan. When it was announced that wall Rose had been breached, Ryner and Bertholdt were as shocked as everyone else: of course at the time that made perfect sense, but in retrospect, it's kind of strange, because it indicates that they didn't know about the Hairy Titan's plans. Also the Hairy Titan didn't seem to know anything at all about humans, since he was so completely puzzled by the 3-d gear. So the obvious conclusion is that they are definitely not working together, or at least they are not aware of each-other's plans. But, the Hairy Titan's actions did result in Ryner and Bertholdt being in a good position to get Eren over the wall...so what kind of scheming is really going on here?
Also notable is that when Connie had started to figure out what the deal was with his destroyed village (in that all the people had been turned into titans) Ryner and Bertholdt were very interested in keeping Connie from thinking too hard about it. It would seem like the reason for that must have been that they knew exactly what was going on, and were keen on no one figuring it out. Still, the question of WHY they would want that remains unanswered. Why would they care if people knew it could happen? Isn't their only interest in kidnapping Eren and Ymir? AND still more puzzling is the fact that the Hairy Titan could climb up over the wall like it wasn't any big deal at all. And Annie would have made it if not for Mikasa getting up there. If these human-titans can do stuff like that, then why haven't they all just come over the wall and just killed everyone yet?? Why did they wait 100 years and then send just three children to smash up the wall in just one place?
Honestly, in some ways I hope that Ryner does manage to kidnap Eren and take him back to wherever their home base is, because at least then we would finally know who the hell those guys are working for. I think that my ideal set of events to happen next would be for Eren to get carried off but Ymir left behind. Then the story can split into Eren trying to escape but maybe also learning some useful information, and meanwhile Christa can get that priest to tell everyone what the heck is up with the wall and Ymir can explain her certain to be insane backstory. (And I mean, it seems likely that these two things might be connected.)
