As I was coming of age, historians, anthropologists, demographers and epidemiologists were pulling back the curtains on what happened to 10s of millions of native peoples of the Americas. As white kid who grew up (partly) in Oklahoma, I felt some cross-generational responsibility for that one.
Lived through the genocides in Rwanda and Cambodia, watching my government do nothing to stop them (and having prepared the conditions for what happened in Cambodia).

I don't have personal reasons to feel connected to genocides committed by Stalin or Mao, so the details aren't as sharp for me.
Of course if you go back far enough in western culture, there's always what Rome did to Carthage at the end of the second Punic War.
