Appearance: Tenders are usually around 6' tall and have an average build varying with type. The standard types appear as mobile wooden statues of European knights, Roman legionaries, and classical Chinese and Japanese foot soldiers. Tender Guardians are elite varieties of Tender. They are somewhat larger than their standard brethren in height and build and their armors are far more ornate.
Physical Abilities: Tenders are about as strong as a grown man of their size. Their tirelessness, however, allows them to operate at full strength at all times. They are fast capable combatants and very durable making them terrific for handling the common rabble and low-level power users. Tender Guardians on the other hand are brutally strong, very fast, and nigh indestructible. These traits paired with an ability to negate magic make them formidable opponents. In small groups they can genuinely threaten even high-level power users.
Magical Abilities: Each Tender has access to a wide array of nature magics which are very useful, if not terribly powerful.
1) Healing: Nature-based healing magic cures minor injuries, begins bone knitting, and alleviates fatigue.
2) Creation: Tenders can magically generate plant matter. This ability lets them create their wooden weapons, produce fruit and vegetables, and create wood for construction.
3) Repair: Tenders can mend and restore most anything that isn't completely destroyed to its former glory. This is how they restore old buildings and each other. This skill also allows them to convert utterly ruined things into their base components for use in other projects.
Note: Tender Guardians have all these abilities but with a greater reserve of energy. They also have access to. . .
4) Enhance: The ability to improve their own speed and strength even further at the cost of large quantities of magic.
Weaknesses: Their magic (which also constitutes their life force) runs on water and nutrients from the earth. If they run out of magic they stop functioning until another Tender restores them. If they are blown up they cannot be restored. If they are corrupted, they explode. If they are smashed to pieces they cannot be restored. If they are burned, the burned part cannot be healed.
Warning!: Burning a Tender sufficiently will convert it into a Sentinel. Sentinels are strong, fast, wield powerful fire magic, and can run on anything they can burn. They are less durable however, and are weak to water. Sentinels cannot be restored of any damage and explode upon death or exhaustion of power.
Addendum Regarding Tender Guardians: There are a few varieties among the Guardians.
Knight Guardian: The most common Tender Guardian. These ones are essentially elite versions of the well-balanced standard Tender. Their magic-cancelling power is active on touch as is the case with the rest of their abilities.
Bishop Guardian: A caster-type Guardian. These ones are more lithe and feminine in build compared to other Tenders. They can channel their magic abilities over a wide area and are able to produce small anti-magic zones. In addition the intensity of their powers and reserves of energy are well above the other varieties. They lack in physical prowess what they hold in magical power.
Rook Guardian: A pure warrior-type Guardian. Despite being the largest variety of Tender Guardian they are also the fastest. With monstrous strength and speed even amongst the Guardians they are a terror on the battlefield. With all of their magical power focused on self-improvement and regeneration they have no method of outward casting. Their anti-magic ability takes the form of an external physical barrier which they can produce.
