It's called brain short-circuiting. It has happened before. And I want it to happen more.
Wow, this is surely one of the best chapters
And definitely the cutest.
To be fair, they didn't know each other so well back then. You can see the gradual change from "Of course there's no way she/he wouldn't be interested in me", not really thinking about what the other party might think of them. Both just happened to be right, but not for the reasons they thought. Shirogane thought Kaguya was attracted to him due to his discipline and brains, when it was his displays of real kindness that won her over, while Kaguya thought that her being the talented scion of the Shinomiya family would be enough to put him under her feet, while it was her pride and hidden good nature what made him fall for her. They just didn't really know each other that well.
Fast forward until now, they have grown to learn more about each other. They've grown to know their issues, their complexes, quirks and fetishes. This is actually the first time that Kaguya doesn't try to paint herself in a better light and actually confessed her biggest insecurity to someone, let alone the boy she is in love with, that she feels she's not a fundamentally good person. This is a huge thing, since that's actually the core of Kaguya's character.
Back then for better or for worse they were only thinking of themselves while trying to make the other fall. Now they're taking in account the feelings of the other party, and so have stopped using (mostly) underhanded methods and are resorting to just increase their appeal. Hell, even Shirogane is already starting to crack. As much as Kaguya has been losing lately, he's the one who has almost confessed twice.
I can tell how Shirogane feeling right now.
That whole chapter was adorable.

This might be the most adorable chapter to date.
She low-key wanted to murder her bestfriend/master for smearing ice cream on her face.

There're still many unsolved mysteries such as what's the deal with Kaguya and her father? Will Miko and Ishigami be a thing? Will Shirogane survive another year of presidency? Will Hayasaka find "the one"? And why the hell was Kei exercising in the living room in ch 92?
You can't be 100% sure until the person actually admits it, 99% maybe but never 100%.
Plus, it's explained in the first few pages that her recent attitude towards Ishigami made Shirogane think that she maybe only viewed him as someone she likes as a friend.
I though the premise was they both KNOW that the other one loves them, but they don't want to be the one to confess? isn't that what the title says?
99% of what single people think about themself :
You are randomly attaching different labels to effectively the same thing. Being compliant and passive, generally makes you a pretty nice and kind person, it does not take any particular effort really. All it takes is not being an arsehole. Naturally there are people who will go out of the way to help a stranger, and their nicer and kinder, but that does not make that "real" niceness/kindness. The difference between the two is simply magnitude. What you are thinking of is a nice person that also happens to have character and moral fiber.
In addition being nice is often much maligned in terms of attractiveness to women, but that comes from a very specific type of person that can only be described as a f*****g arsehole. Its merely a sad attempt to justify their being pretty awful scumbags. Niceness and kindness can be a very effective strategy both in life and with women. It depends on what you do and who you do it with. In fact being a right d**k, is actually a recipe for short term gain in exchange for long term pain.
