in Violinist of Hamelin, the Hero (MC) can turn into Maou ...
(anime version get too dark, and I prefer manga instead)
there's plenty of variation in H manga too ... =3= ...

A fat, bushy haired male Demon Lord with tiny horn on his forehead, huge fangs in his mouth, giving out candy for the local children twice a week, laughs a lot and is chummy even with people who try to take his life. Sure, he's ugly, but it'd be far from unpleasant...

Cause it's a genre it's not fully clea, but I'd assume if it was just two that'd be a love triangle.
It's still predominately comedy. It just gets serious/disturbing when there are plot advances.
