OMG that made me laugh so hard. It's so true. I got interested in this series after finding Zero in a desperate search for magic users who wear tiny shorts (long story) and the first thing that went through my head was "Oh, it's a light novel. Let's see if there's a manga so I can get the gist of it before the inevitable anime and crapstorm of people complaining about it happens."

That's pretty much it, but she does specifically say it's the soul that tries to return to the witch and gets reborn. Whether or not it's reincarnation depends on if she was just being dramatic and meant the spell returns, or if souls really do work like that, but it really isn't that important and isn't brought up again in at least the first three chapters (which is all I've read).
Thats not how I understood it.
It seems like :
- Witch uses magic to create supersoldier
- Has X generations of descendants
- Witch dies
- Supersoldier dies
- Supersoldier spell tried to return to witch, but can't find witch so it goes to infant in womb of closest living decendant
- Supersoldier baby is born
Its no more reincarnation anymore than passing down recessive genes that just happens to activate again in your generation. A woman who grows a badass beard is not the reincarnation of their great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather who famously had badass beard genes.
