More like the artist is trying to kill off the side characters because this story has to end relatively soon. Can't say I blame the publishers.. This story is so slow and it feels like each chapter has less and less plot development.

Yeah, i read about that. Extremely, extremely low birth rates in Japan. It's the whole 'herbivore men', where men aren't pursuing women anymore because they've become shy, and Japanese culture has a lot of things for lonely, single men and they aren't as stigmatized as elsewhere. The women have the whole 'Oni-josei' thing, where a woman is considered a 'demon-woman' if she doesn't give up her career to be a stay-at-home mom when the relationship gets serious.

In addition to what people have already said(I did do psychology for my studies ), I also bring up the percentages in such experiments. Not all of the participants conformed in the exact same manner. Heck, some just copied the actions of their associates without actually gaining aggressive/passive tendencies. Sure, everyone might have gotten disturbed during the experiment, but it doesn't necessarily mean they adopted extreme behaviour. Most importantly, the situation was different in that, like others have mentioned. You can't just generalize and say that anyone on an uninhabited island will succumb to such. It's not like they 'all' went insane; most are at the peak of sanity(at present anyway) and recovered from whatever trauma they experienced. The people that DID succumb, either exhibited symptoms since before they were selected or were put into a situation of distrust and physical distress. In truth, such behaviour has a chance of manifesting in time, as your mind gets more and more pressured, not simply because one is in a lawless place. And by that logic, keeping your mind occupied in a healthy manner(i.e. by planning, gathering, sporting etc.) can keep you from falling into mental breakdown. Might be difficult in the initial stages, but those that wish to 'survive' will strive to avoid going crazy. The twist on this artificial island is that getting survival material means facing killers.

But you are right on the bit about finding true nature. Those that do not have it in them won't know what to do with the power and will just copy someone else or do stupid things that make them lose the power.

Lets be real here, the "rape" aspect of this manga is the mangaka's go to method for "ecchi". The moral factor here is extremely thin. Even when Himeko's friends were raped it was just depicted as some sort of orgy scene.

Let's be real here, the genre tabs of manga(s) is affixed by users based on information from relevant sites. Those are just guidelines for readers, mangaka doesn't need permission from readers to render "ecchi" scenes if their editor permit the contents to be printed. The moral factor is extremely thin everywhere you look, whether in real life or on cyber space, you will see people breaking the rules even though they had been told or warned not to do so. If the mangaka had depicted rape scenes step by step, it'd garner even more heated arguments than what we are seeing now.
