Personally i think the red overcoat symbolizes Ottoman Authority&Administration while turquoise scarf symbolizes the nomadic past of the Turkic people

But yeah, the tiny fez that Mahmut is wearing is looks kinda off to me...

The first time I read Altair was back at 2009 and I was still reading from sites like mangafox.
I was expecting a historical non-magic adventure cliched shounenish kind of manga where the fight often time just punching it harder than the punches before.
 
What I found instead was a beautiful story of a young man and his aspiration for his nation.

And now 8 years later, here I am, still reading beautiful story, waiting for some kind of fireworks from a controversial boom-stick.
 
All the while sympathizing with an emperor who think about his nation; a mighty and frightening general that actually just want peace for his nation and tending his sheep at home; a sickly general; and his fat agile childhood friend that want to heal an empire, hating a certain Louis that just want himself to win more, evaluating a poison general's ambition, mourning a merchant general, and also wondering about the maiden that has sworn celibacy for the eagle general.
 
It is really been a journey worth its time.

I take it back -- in fact, now that I recall, not only was there the matter of the controversial boom-sticks, we also have seen a poor unfortunate youth lose his hometown to rampaging imperial armies, a youth who have awfully fascinating ideas and certain craftsmanship skills, and who, during the whole sorry affair with the northerners, was helped out by some kind people who took him in, kind people whom we saw again very recently, and who now have a delivery to make...
