The way you wrote this is confusing me a bit, since I read the "assume anyone..." as "look at everyone as possible dating partners". This will clearly never happen since there are many people who won't even see the hints even in man-woman interactions.

But I do agree that things would be better if people stopped getting bothered by the actual genders (or lack of) in a relationship.

Hmmm, yeah, Seven Days is one of the few boy-boy manga I've ever read; I can't remember why, either it was recommended or I was fond of the artist.  But anyway, it was quite nicely done.

I'm asking, because every single "yaoi" / "shounen-ai" I saw, was borderline pornographic. I could feel the girl-cum while looking at them, gave me the creeps.
I want to prove to myself that if "yuri" can be cute, surely "yaoi" can be as well.
Although piling evidence points to the contrary...

Another one that's pretty sweet is Slow Starter, in part thanks to its refreshing lack of sex. Seven Days is also worth a look, at least if you don't mind the ridiculousness of falling head over heels for someone within a week. (external links because batoto doesn't host either series anymore.)

Someone already recommended it, but 19 Days.  Also, yeah, most yaoi is terrible;  yuri isn't really my thing either, but this comic is great.

You'll never persuade me that you can get as good a result in most of this sort of thing using oil instead of butter.  It's like the way "low-cal" desserts are virtually never as good as the genuine article.  Gah, just imagine someone trying to make croissants with something else instead of butter . . . as to cakes in specific, I dunno about moist, some of the moistest cakes I've ever had use butter.  Well actually, I don't think I have any recipes for cake that don't use butter except the one that goes in the chocolate mousse trifle, and that one's not meant to be eaten by itself.  But I've rarely had a cake from a restaurant or bakery that even comes very close to as good as a couple of the recipes we use at home.  Light, yeah, I can see such a cake might be lighter, but it's not like cakes made with butter need be heavy, they just won't be flippin' angel food, which is fine and dandy by me.  But with oil, you're losing the flavour.  For me, texture is nice, but flavour is king.

 

Egg whites/baking powder--a lot better?  "Just fine" I'll buy, but baking powder would have to work poorly for egg whites to give results that were "a lot" better, and I always have good results with baking powder so I'm not clear how much better an egg white approach could be.  Of course the two aren't mutually exclusive, either.  My grandmother's waffle recipe uses both whipped egg whites and baking powder.  But I'll take your word that it works.

As to the different taste . . . yes, true, I notice it in things like steamed buns, I can't get over the way they're done with no salt, leaves them weirdly flavourless and blah to my taste but that's clearly the way they want them and the proper way to do it.  It just feels horribly wrong to be doing such things to Western baking.
