Since I've been immersed in real world history and politics (ok not that immersed, I'm still pretty ignorant), "conquering" and "expansions" and these kinds of words don't translate that well to me, sorry about that. And it's very difficult for me not to be critical of any media that deals with history/politics, whether it be fictional.

 

His age does matter, because I just cannot get it into my head how he came to power so abruptly at that time in his life. It doesn't matter how high his IQ is; what's important is the circumstances surrounding Livi at that time. His mother was a commoner and because of this, he lead an isolated and unwelcome life. And when he ascended the throne, wouldn't there have been much dissent from the aristocracy and the royal family itself to his taking up of the position? Bardo is also in line for the throne (and in a more favourable position to become king) and previously, he didn't even give much support to his nephew. Unless with the backing of powerful external peoples, Livi couldn't have remained in power to carry out the wars and make the new trade routes that you mention. No matter how high his IQ is and how skilled he is at all areas of life, don't forget that he was a child then. None of these factors are accounted for in the story.

 

The other thing is that he became conqueror of ~~~ZE WORLD~~~, not just even the Sun Kingdom and honestly this is where I throw my brain out. Because if the series reflected any reality, there would non-stop rebellions from the conquered territories and he'd be completely immersed in quelling them and proving to them that he is a worthy ruler. Life after war isn't 100% healing rain.

 

Stopping with the essays, I remind myself that this is story in which people make it rain by singing, so... anyway these are just my opinions, and I will be shutting up now, thank you for entertaining my incoherent babbling

where as shoujo is all about romance, character development and healing.

They're technically the complete opposite of each other.

 

Not to mention... most Shounen with shoujo plot in it gets canceled fast by the publishers... Mx0, SilveryCrow, DoubleArt anyone? yea...

 

Also why Negima turn from Slice-of-Life fantasy to full blown magic combat with little or no romance (yes, Negi have almost 0 romance toward his harem... he's more focused in combat)

Negima was originally going to be the same plot style as Love Hina but with more magic involved.

Hum ,that's not what I meant, but I can see your confusion since I expressed myself poorly.

What I mean to say is that romance shounen is somewhat really bad compared to shoujo, which in generally is about romance.

I know that each genre are targeted for a specific demographic (boys and girls), but even so...

Take this one for exemple, you can feel the feelings of the characters, it's like they can ressonate with the reader and convey theirs feelings for us.

Meanwhile, for romance shounen manga, you can pick one, you just want to beat the MC to a pulp because he is a wimp.

I deviate a litle from the subject but I hope that now you can understand what I meant.

He had to, it was a matter of survival. If he did not show his capacity as a King he would of died. 

 

He pleased the military with wars of expansions, pleased the merchants with new trade routes and new material ( via recently conquered territories ) and trimmed down the power of the aristocracy by making seditious ideas worthy of losing your head publicly. How many heads rolled in 3 years? 

 

Now as far as the age thing goes, it doesn't really matter to me because it doesn't mean shit that he started at 8 or 12. The fact is he thought and did this all alone own means he has an IQ through the roof. Mental growth of those individuals is often unpredictable. Both can be believable.

And I'm assuming this arc won't be animated?

probably not, since it is about to end with the rain country arc. i doubt it'll get a second season, but who knows, we can hope.

screw dat chapter 40 or whatever where Livi's real age is confirmed, I'm just gonna keep on believing he's 15 instead of 11/12. Because how in the hell does a kid that age ~conquer~ the world. No. Even if that was the case, I hate leaving my brain out for series I've come to really like. Maybe if he was a bratty prince slowly taking over duties of a hateful daddy (king)? More believable... 

 

Also, in the chapter where Nike meets the priest, some really interesting issues were brought up, which were only talked about in the chapter itself... I thought that was where this manga was going to become special, but I guess I had too much expectations. 

 

Overall, nice read with good characters and good character development. I like how it centres around Nike's and Livi's relationship while accommodating other aspects smoothly, but man, had so much potential to be more political/intellectual... I guess dat just me lol

 

Anyway, it's Shiina Dai, so reminder to self to shut up and enjoy what I have. The author has already explored much more than one could expect in a shoujo series.

Regarding shounen and shoujo; Those are pretty generic things to say; it's almost like you're implying one genre is better than the other, but it really is a matter of preference in the end.

Just because they are opposites, they both have pros and cons.. comparing them won't get you very far. Many shounens have great character development and feeling.

That is correct, which is why I said they're basically opposite of each other, so you can't really compare them.

I'm positive that if we ever see someone piss off Livi, we will see what makes him the ruler of the world, at such a young age, and sadly I truly cannot wait to see him at his angriest.

Nah, it's pretty clear that one of Nike's "job" in this manga is to "heal" him. Make him feel less lonely and able to trust others more.

I see you everywhere and I see nothing but the negative side of things from you. Not that it's wrong.

 

Personally, I believe Livi wouldn't have hesitated to do something against the grandmother if he had been alone. However, because she's the grandmother of his wife, he decides to have some leniency. You can tell that Livi hasn't forgiven her and will not forget the slight made against him and his wife by her, but out of his love for Nike he will withhold his ruthless punishment.

 

I mean, think about it. Some married couples hate their in-laws, but they put up with them because of their spouse.

But they weren't trying to wipe his memory, they were trying to wipe his love for her. They were trying to make it to that he doesn't love her anymore, and have him go home and call off the wedding.

This chapter is sort of what I expected. Coming back seeing Bardo acquiring a harem, Nike being lonely after Livi is getting back in the paperwork.

It looks like she didn't go back to sleep because Livi couldn't sleep ( remember if she isn't here he needs meds ).

I wonder what's the next arc, probably something to do with dealing with a nation doing le rebellion or something along the line.

I'd also like to that Fallen Syndicate for all the releases these past 2(?) days, much appreciated.

I have to take it politically in this situation, especially with what her actual actions were. Had she succeed in wiping the memories and him going back to his kingdom...

 

What would of happened? He goes back, his Uncle and aide ask him where is his wife and all. Now two things could of happened. Either he remembers her, and be wary of a man trying to find his long lost love.

 

Or he doesn't, and feels furious that he's been treated this way and sends the cavalry.

 

This either spells complete destruction over the Rain's dukedom or it forces Nike's grandmother to have to teach Nike how to meteor strike everything. A nice girl like her slaughtering so many... She won't like it very much.

 

I'm really not upset at how she treated the main characters, compared to most. I'm more upset by that totally bad plot she's had going, she shouldn't be taking decisions that endanger the entirety of their country rashly like that.

Well, from what I've read, the king is not really royalty. If anything else, he's more of the prince-consort of the heiress to the throne (Nike's mother). However, I think you're thinking things too political here. From the dukedom they live in, they all consider themselves as a family rather than one political unit. I think it's not negligent to say that they'll be more than willing to forgive the matriarch of the family. I don't agree with this, but it really can't be helped. Honestly? I think the mother may do something, but I'm not sure about it yet.

I don't think I'm all that negative. Although I do believe i've been more of it the last 2-3 weeks. I think it has to do with me trying new titles or picking back up titles I've set aside because I've had less to do. In my defense( for this particular manga ), this arc has been really predictable. My rant has been a long time coming, I just waited for the confirmation the ending was going to be so.

 

Your very Levi centric in your comment. I think that's a mistake, the ones who have the most grievance with her is clearly her family and subjects. Livi's surely not the type to forgive, but he doesn't really want to alienate his wife, that's understandable.

 

The King has very little power, his daughters all fear the grandmother because she's quite the dictator. Think about it, how much do you think she did to maintain this isolated paradise, and the status-quo?  If she uses such forceful methods on her own and against powerful opponent, I'd wager a great deal.

 

The King did one good thing, though. He's given one of his daughter to Livi. Clearly he understood that the constant conquering of Livius could not be stopped and their nation was at risk like so many before them. Though, I'm not sure why he allowed the potentially deadly daughter to go forward with the alliance. Maybe it was a one-time genius on his part.

 

 

At  the very least she deserves some good ol' house arrest.
