The peeps whom compared this comic to Tower of God made an interesting comparison indeed, because -- Tower of God started out as nothing but one huge, big, looonnngg power fantasy: A lone kid, looking for his gurl, he's the irregular with super powers and can learn anything super quick and everyone like totally loves him.
At that regard, the "plot" (series of events and the meaning behind them) of Builder is very much similar to Tower of God.
But, for the very least, I find that the characters in Tower of God had something substantial to achieve, while in Builder you only see how everyone put a huge amount of resources into a single character, with an extremely vague motive that's not clear at all, which suggests that the writer of Builder has absolutely no idea where he's going.
In Tower of God, the main idea was that, regardless of rank or history, they all start from the same level. They are all juniors in the eyes of the Tower whom have to overcome the same challenges. But in Builder, most of the characters are already beyond awesome, the only one whom has anything substantial to achieve, is the girl on the cover.
It's a the basic formula for stories which generally pop up in young-teens' stories, like Harry Potter: Most of the characters, except for the protagonist, are an expert in this "new, strange, exciting world", they all guide and educate the protagonist, lead him into adventures and show him the splendor of this limitless world. You, the main character, are being brought up and cared for. Everyone loves you and they all want you to be awesome and special.
the entire genre is generally being written by complete amateurs, and for a good reason. It is written as if the writer was the reader, inserting oneself into the clueless main character while the rest of the cast guides, educates, love and care for you.
It's one, big, fat self-talk. The writer is the protagonist, and the protagonist is awesome and everyone loves him.
However, stories like Harry Potter made use of that desire for pandering, and capitalized on it. There are a lot of readers who want an easy-to-read power fantasies, the problem is when the writer oneself wants the same thing as well, the writer thinks like a consumer and thus wants to experience a story like he experiences reading one, which generally ends up in incredible self-pandering and a series of self-glorifying deus ex machinas. This can easily be avoided if one has the experience for it, but for amateurs? It does not generally end up well.
It's the most basic, and dangerously shameless of attempted self-insertions in the literary world. But, there are those whom make use of it: It's like how in most of today's AAA games, like Batman, Farcry, Crysis, etc, all have extremely powerful characters which can achieve incredible things, in a single press of a button. It's also how MMORPGs operate, they give you a lot of shit for very monotonous, simple chores. The difference is that, in the literary world, instead of items / levels, you get breasts and popularity. In terms of LN / manga, the best I can think of is "Re:Monster", which is the biggest self-insertion Garry Stu I had have ever seen in my life.
It's not a BAD or a GOOD thing, but it is dangerous. It can easily become boring and meaningless, and the moment the reader feels like the writer just writes a story in order to glorify himself, it becomes horribly obnoxious to follow. It's like reading someone's masturbation journal.
Again, just to clarify, I have no hate for Builder. It's merely clear that this is no literary genius or above-average in terms of storyline.
It's something we all saw, and it's something we're going to keep seeing. There's nothing wrong with that, but there's nothing much to expect here as well, at least for a few years until the author gets a lot better.
And for the peeps whom asked if I wrote anything, the answer is: No.
I criticize from the standpoint of a consumer, not of a creator. Believing that a great writer can also offer great criticism for consumers is a wrong point of view, me thinks. I'd probably be a good editor, but not a good writer.

or a gatling gun or a bazooka or a laser beam gun.... anything better than a close range weapons for a huge wave of pervert muscle slime guys that come from in all directions

@Publius, I always found the allusion, appeal to authority to be a form of self-dismissal.
I enjoyed reading what ye wrote there, especially with the irony oozing from it. Using fancy language to induce estrangement, and thus a sense of authority over the matter? Heh. Either "well played" or "well written", both are compliments so take it as ye will.

Which really sums it up rather succinctly, and you'd think that'd be all that needs to be said. 

Need to? No. Does it add undisputable credential to it? Yes.

It's the responsibility of the mature mind to be able to identify the quality of something, anything, without relying solely on the credentials and opinions of a third party. 

Criticizing an intelligent opinion, or casting allusions to its illegitimacy, merely due to a lack of credentials is a simple resort of those who hope to disagree, but are unable. Equally so, assuming that an 'expert' is infallible, and thus their opinion beyond reproach, is nothing but an unfortunate appeal to authority.

Its true that the author's naming sense is bad. But this series still have potential in terms of plot because of dream setting. Lets hope something good happen later on.
