Er, I'm confused. Why is Maria suddenly there? Did Zill reconcile with her offscreen? I think I would have liked to actually see that instead of her just appearing out of nowhere to be honest.

Um, this is from Lilliana's perspective, so of course they wouldn't expose her to what they did to him afterwards. All she needs to know is everyone is ok.

I've read through most of vol. 4 of the LN. (No specifics in the spoiler, just the general flow of the series.)

No tragedy tag needed. Generally, each volume starts fluffy, then gets serious, and resolves. But it's more of an action/drama thing than a tragedy thing, with a strong shoujo flavor. Liliana does some really brain-dead stuff sometimes, but you have to remember she died when she was 15, was unable to communicate in her new life until she was 7, and has led a very sheltered life as a noble's daughter.

So yeah, she does brain-dead naive stuff a lot.

You have no idea how much buying this FUBARed my Amazon.co.jp suggestions.

Vol. 5 of the LN just came out, but I don't have time to read it yet.

As someone mentioned, her magic does go berserk. She unknowingly casts a powerful-yet-focused quake spell which she has no control over, and since the whole earthquake is focused on only the castle, it quickly starts to collapse.
