Yeah, from what I gather, Korean society is very male dominated, maybe even more so than Japan. It's easy to find articles on gender inequality on S. Korea. Girls especially face a lot of societal pressure to marry young.

Just my opinion from my own experiences, Japan society seems more orderly and civilized, while Korean society is a bit less friendly.

Yeah. You know, I see an awful lot of this kind of thing in manhwa. Anybody else get the impression that Korea is in some ways a pretty nasty place? Seriously, like there's some really nice people, but the impression in so many of the stories is the rat race is savage--brutal bullying at school, brutal power-tripping social hierarchies everywhere else, the people on top not just lording it over the lower rungs but generally being sadistic to them and treating them like scum. It's creepy.
