There are cases where people may lie about sexual harassment in order to spite someone, but I think those cases are incredibly rare compared to the actual cases of sexual harassment (or worse).

 

It is a shame, however, for those involved in false claims because that stuff really tends to stick but while I may feel bad for those people, I think we should focus more on the ones who get away with actually doing it. We need to promote a safe environment for those who have been victims of sexual harassment and violence (both men and women) to come forth with it and put more people who deserve it behind bars.

Nah, its about giving a fair trial based on evidence, that way efforts will be focused on helping the actual victims(those abused and those unfairly accussed). When one makes a claim, one should be ready to back it up with verifiable evidence, that's how it works.

There's no way to prove a person "got away with actually doing it" if it can't even be proven this person did it in the first place.

Meanwhile--this is still going?  Really?!  I must have dropped it 60 chapters ago and I didn't understand how they were stretching the plot then.  Is there anything in this manga you couldn't have basically told in one or two volumes?

it's all about the story, not the plot. plot, honestly, could have been wrapped in a volume or less. but everything else is just one long "the misadventures of takahashi-senpai".

I agree that we should have a safe environment for those in that situation to come forth, but it's definitely more important that any person can't be accused of something and be subjected to that kind of abuse without proper evidence and due process, just at someone's whim. You can't just wave those away by saying that it can't be helped or whatever. Now I don't think either of us can responsibly say for sure how rare those cases are compared to actual reported cases. We can't just toss aside due process just because of sympathy for everybody who claims that something has happened. It's only after they can prove that it happened that we can afford to sympathize and whatnot. Otherwise, it's just mob mentality. That's nowhere close to justice. That's how "innocent until proven guilty" works. You can't make exceptions just because you feel sorry for every sob story.

 

While it's true that it's an injustice to let a criminal walk free, it's an even greater injustice to let innocent men have their lives ruined at the whim of one person's spite; we cannot the justice system become such a convenient tool for everyone's personal vendettas.

Very true.  I'll take the liberty of getting political for a moment . . . unfortunately, in the US the justice system will be and remain such a convenient tool, not because anyone in it is interested in serving such personal vendettas, but because they get to piggyback on various other reasons the US system is skewed against the accused. 

This atmosphere unfortunately happens to make it easy for individual creepy people to ruin folks' lives with false accusations.  Which in turn also unfortunately creates a backlash against all such accusations, many of which are perfectly real.

Nirpan, it happened a lot in my state. Some bitchy girl student would slander (of sexual harrassment) a male teacher because she didn't like him. (and often with the help of her friends) The dude get fired on the spot without any proof, and even if it is later revealed that it was all a lie, the teacher can't get back in the educational system, his name never get cleansed.

I agree it is frightening how the authority never properly investigate these cases, or just temporarily suspend the guy while the investigation is on.
