Yes, what Liar said. Definitely some sort of old flame or almost-flame, associated with some sort of old regrets about mistakes made or the road not taken. And with their reunion a resolution, an acceptance, a realization that the time has truly passed, and the decision to move forward.
Nice way to end it.
. . . Although the very end, the author's autobiographical bit . . . Aaahhhh! Such horror and tragedy! All that beautiful chocolate, just melted by the pitiless sun! Supervillains of dark and cold have been created for less.
Feel kind of well choosen that the last 2 chapters apear on halloween
I have two theories.
The woman is an old lover of Jean-Louis and the relationship progressed to having a child together. However, the relationship did not work out and they separated. Nevertheless, Jean-Louis passes on the tradition of chocolate onto the child. Nevertheless, the two still care for each other as she kisses him before she and the child departs.
Another theory is that Jean-Louis in his capacity as a lawyer helped the woman go through an awful period of her life, cheering her up in her moment of need with chocolate. She has many regrets but Jean-Louis was not one of them and so she kisses him as a token of her appreciation.
In the end, Jean-Louis returns to his daily routine and, having found closure with the woman, asks Nana (the woman who made the chocolate in the first chapter and is interested in him) out to dinner.
SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE LAST CHAPTER TO ME
Rofl, that cleaner trolled the author pretty hard.
Jean-Louis... you are as sweet as the chocolates you treasure...
Unfortunately, this is the end of our waltz with you, isn't it? Only one volume and it's complete...
He loves his mother. How sweet. I hope he gets together with the lady from the chocolate shop.
This reminds me, there's a toothpaste called Theodent that has a chocolate based active ingredient. I used it once, but I can't remember much other than raising an eyebrow at its $12 price.
I need to correct an injustice here. Contrary to popular belief, and indeed contrary to intuitive expectation, chocolate is not bad for the teeth. Studies show no negative association there. Sugar sure is, but it seems as if the raw unsweetened chocolate is actually good for the teeth (and health generally, having absolutely masses of antioxidants and such, more than pretty much anything else actually), so the net impact is a wash on the teeth.
Similarly, bittersweet chocolate from around the 65% and up range is actually good for you, a health food.
So yeah, that dentist needs to shut up and stop misleading people into abandoning bittersweet heaven. That girl's mom, too. Stick to dark, not too sugary chocolate and you need have no regrets.
Dat name
Things turned a bit philosophical over chocolate... with a child and grown man... as the child speaks with more vocabulary than an average twenty-something...
The child was cute.
It's called grooming.
Also: "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" by Maurice Chevalier.
Aaaand he seduced a little girl.
Great.
As a french , i found the chapt 2 funny .
I came her for the chocolate and I stayed to be seduced by the sexy Frenchman with each chapter.
Hmm I gave this a try but really the story isn't for me...I find it rather odd and kind of artistic for the sake of being artistic. So yup I'm done...enjoy it if you like that kind of stuff!
Oy oy.... -.- What's with all the prejudice regarding the French here? =.=
I personally think the story-telling isn't "that" bad... >.>
joke dot com
Est Em is a famous yaoi mangaka on the contrary...
they'r french ! that's what happened
- Someone said : Chocolat ? and the other guy went for his ass ! Common misunderstanding in France , but the other guy was cool about it , well until he wakes up .
I'm... still in shock from the second chapter.
What the hell just happened?
Mental note : never let another man put a chocolate in your mouth , he might be putting something else in your butt
omg i need to get into the chocolate business
