I appreciate that there's a variety of outcomes. If chapter 1.5 came directly after chapter 1, I don't think I would've liked it as much. Like, "Oh, he went back to normal after a while? Well, whatever." But in between those two points, we got a kid slowly adapting to the change and learning to accept it, a boy trying out being a girl, learning from the experience and becoming closer to his family as a result, and a couple kids who make the change suddenly, but find themselves feeling more comfortable than ever in their bodies. The author put some real thought into the different possibilities and outcomes, and explored the concept from multiple perspectives.

So when the kid from the first story shows up, years later, as a full-grown man, it works. It feels like this is who he wanted to be. They mentioned a second reversal being possible, but extremely rare, so it ends up being an open question as to whether he underwent another metamorphosis, or if he did it the hard way, with drugs and hormones and surgery. Either way, it completes the metaphor of metamorphosis as puberty in a way I love.

The whole book has been about gender and queer identity and transition, but this arc of his ends up telling a story that's much more real for many people: being a child with certain aspirations of who you want to become and what you want to be, hitting puberty and suddenly being told that you have to become this sort of person or that sort of person instead, that you have to wear these clothes and not those clothes, trying to go along with it all, even though it makes you cry at night to think about what is no longer possible for you, and finally coming to your own resolution about who you are and who you will be, even if your own body seems to have betrayed you. And it's punctuated beautifully by that final butterfly, because he may have broken out of his pupa years ago, but it's only now, as an adult, that we see him with wings unfurled.

So yeah, I probably connected with this one more than I should've, and I might be guilty of reading way more into it than the author had actually considered, but what the hell. It's good times. Five out of five thumbs up.

Oh. Hi, manga. I had thoroughly scrubbed you from my memory, but you're back again.

I'm so torn by chapter 1.5. Part of me is glad she became male again since that was what both wanted, but part of me is sad that they weren't able to work it out as girls without having him turn back male. 

Well, I guess had they not turned male again, it would probably have worked out regardless. I can't imagine the world would be particularly strict on biologically straight couples if people were willy-nilly swapping genders.

Okay guys Update time!! Chapter 5 is fully translated and released, Been busy with this series. However I have had help Falk689 has been giving me a hand with cleaning and redrawing ^.^ awesome guy.

As such I've also re-released Chapter 4 *NOW IN HD!!!!* I kid but it's cleaned and has had my spelling errors corrected.

Just an FYI although the series information here states that there is only 5 Chapters this is in-fact wrong I can confirm the existence of a 6th chapter, although this isn't a separate case it's a continuation of Case1 So Yu and his friend Izumi.

I already have the Chapter's raw in Japanese and have made a fair dent in the TL work for it. There are a couple of other bonus's in the book that I might post here in the comments section. (these are largely bonus drawings and background Bio's for the characters) In the mean time enjoy the chapter

Am the only one who interprets the カチッ/"*tock*" sound shown in this latest chapter as like....the stereotypical insect legs scraping sound? For some reason I couldn't get that thought out of my head, and then it felt quite a bit creepy.
