Sanji's never had a cigarette its a lolipop. It only smokes because he is licking it so fast
Agreed, I still cringe when I remember Sanji being given a lollipop instead of a Cigarette in One Piece, and yeah, I'll never understand the resistance some people give to using Grammarly, I started using it like a year and a half ago and never looked back since.
This is primarily because I want to read the story as true to the original intention as possible. If I want bullshit added or removed* I will find and buy the American publication (if and when they come out)... Which, to support a lot of the mangaka that I love and respect I intend to do (and have done) already (usually only to find the fan translation is more recent).
I have responded to so many comments sections that I haven't a clue where I originally stated it (probably here) but some of the bull pulled off by American censors is mind crippling. Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, DB/Z/GT, Card Captor Sakura, XYZ... The censoring is insane, and often for as idiotic a reason as politics and religion (or personal preference)...
So when a "fan" translator inserts their bias or opinion into the works, depending on how disrespectful it becomes, I worry about what else they are doing to it...
That's my reasoning anyway...
Also, ffs people, if you can't find a human proofreader use Grammerly. There is a free version that is better than enough (and probably better than some human proofreaders), and is so useful I have been paying for the subscription (although, I actually write... Or wrote... So that might have something tondo with it...)
This isn't an #AD, it is an earnest request for my sanity...
I challenge you to live with one of those harpies for 25 years, get your heart broken, give up most if not everything you own, pay child support for a kid that isn't even yours for the of your life, and then still call it being prejudiced against women, there is no hatred after that, only an empty husk of a man.
And Creepy is a relative concept.
Fucking Swear. I'd rather read this translation than FUCKING MOONRUNES without furigana.....
Being able read free manga in english is enough of me, when still readable in standard people
FDuuuu .... that bite tease xD.
The (Mis)translation is hilarious to me and others, don't listen to those psychos that can't differentiate between a proper standard to be upheld and their own preferences.
That is much funnier than the novel.
I did not wanted to read this after overly ordinary premise. And indeed it had very cringy RPG isekai tropes, but the artwork is great and characters are kinda fun.
Now I am conflicted. I don't like to cringe, yet I don't want to miss the fun.
To add to it, I doubt story would go anywhere with this mary sue character and comment section more concerned with translation then events.
What should I do...
Nah, WhitePod's comments were all hugely misogynistic and creepy. This is just cute girls using big swears.
It's probably not accurate, but I can pretend it fits since the MC doesn't seem to be particularly invested in the world or paying attention to other people. Honestly, it's almost a Let's Play where he's trying to entertain himself because he refuses to follow the plot.
That’s the correct translation of the loan word “bitch”; it’s one of *many* in Japanese that have changed in meaning from the original English word.
worse than whitepod? god, how triggered are you?
TL note was wrong. where's my 10 dollars?
It's the translator and it's annoying.
It's been happening with anime subs too. They change bitch to slut and stuff like that. I swear whenever I want but I'd never ruin a manga/anime by adding it out of place.
This is worse than the pictures WhitePod put at the end of mangas. It's crapping on the source material.
>and yes I'm Australian (without a strong accent) and I fucking swear a lot.
Wow, I never thought I would see someone call curse words vulgar in a manga comment section, it just goes to show that life (the internet) can always surprise you.
This is just an aussie accent away from being identical to those parody translations with how much excess cursing being tossed around.
And the worst part is I can't even tell if the original story was this vulgar or if it's just the translator fucking around.
Remember, these aren't written for anyone outside of Japan, least of all westerners - profit from us is just bonus, not life or death (or series) defining. Even if this is eventually translated into English officially it is likely that the original Japanese name will stick (as has been the trend for the past decade).
Also, did you still have the same knee-jerk reaction to Pokémon, which is the abbreviations for Pocket and Monster in Japanese characters? (ポケメん) in katakana because they are effectively loan words. (I am not sure about the first character (po) since I am on a phone, anyone feel free to correct me (on anything).
Edit, also, all of the examples you gave were external to Japan, and therefore meaningless to a Japanese oriented context. If we were speaking of Western convention, you would be correct, but we are not, we are speaking of an English translation of a Japanese text. If you want to start arguing that Westerners should freely abuse non-western text for their own purposes I don't think you will find this a comfortable place to do so. Sure, some things are TRANSLATED for comfort, but names are rarely TRANSLATION issues, they are names. The mot a translator will do is fix the rominization of the kanji when they learn they misread it... Your suggestion is far beyond what that is, and, realistically, the individual who called you an grammar nazi is inaccurate (although I was about to agree with then) since this IS PROPER Japanese GRAMMAR, and since it is... Japanese... and the formation of a proper noun, any English grammatical argument is immediately rendered utterly invalid (or, are you going to pose the argument that no American can use British grammar and vice versa. This will pose an issue since ALL science is based off of Latin grammar and would render the entire library of the scientific community invalid...)
K. Gunna stup naw b4 dis trns 2 rant (god, that last sentence hurt my brain...)
egad. "behaki" still triggers me to giggle like an idiot XD
technically shes about to penetrate her.... and fluids WILL be exchanged...
*sigh* Welp, it had to happen at some point, It's a "new" breed of Grammar-nazi, meet the translation nazi everyone, go on and say hello to our new flavor of hell.
No intercourse = Worst porn ever
*can see the hentai tag getting added soon at this rate*
Is it just me or do the conversations feel really cringeworthy? Like it's trying too hard to be funny and just ends up falling flat?
