For proposing such a ballsy plan and still win over Noguchi's consideration, Kirishima's now the ultimate madman.
Just finished catching up to this. Just want to say that Asada is a fucking god. Noguchi too, though it hurts to admit. They both drive the story so hard with the games they play. I like to think that while Asada is pulling the 'keep enemies closer' stance with Noguchi, there is some genuine comradery between them with how bonkers they can be in their methods.
Also, Ijuun is the hidden star of this manga. I love his character, keeps the entire manga in line by being a solid anchor, yet avoids the usual pitfalls of becoming bland. The way he sees Asada and really the whole Hospital as a whole is extremely relatable. I love how every panel of them entering the surgery room has Ijuun looking down as fuck with the expression that screams "I wonder what crazy stupid shit I'll have to put up with this time". He's destined to be a great doctor but is having such a hard time keeping steady on the path. Shit ain't easy.
Also, as a last note, the politician patient arc is hands down my favorite so far. Every single character went IN those chapters it was pure madness. Seeing some of the 'villains' of the manga come out of that arc as much more human and relatable characters was also very nice.
That last panel of the politican's granddaughter's face... God damn I actually wanted to cry myself.
Wonderful manga. So easy to see why it won an award. Understand it ended 5 years ago, here's to hoping we see its end.
