Sword Art Online - Aincrad

In anime, I really liked parts when they showed us people that thought that living in SOA is the same as in real life - that you need to enjoy your life no matter where you are, and that you are also responsible for bad things.
I think it was done pretty well. But of course, I wouldn't know how well he did explaining it in LN before reading it )

I wanted to see Asuna and Kirito meet in real life, maybe see a wedding scene, too. Speaking of which, what happened with their A.I. kid? It was like she was "born" then "died" in the span of two weeks? And all she got was a couple of pages and a pendant?!
And then that game-creator guy...if he didn't kill himself (when he disappeared), that guy should be in prison for the rest of his life! He was directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, but Kirito & Asuna are just kinda like, "It would be nice if your dream world existed." Well, the closest that man should get to a castle is a maximum security prison.

Even so, it's not like the anime is way way wayyy better. So many important points are being left out. What I would like to point out is while the LN seems to follow the path of "technology evolution that brings to virtual world to life-does the virtual world is no different from the real world?" , while the anime strives more in the "survival" domain, the actions and the romance.

One part that I really didn't like in the anime was that they had lessen the importance of Asuna's past (after they've brought the house; Asuna talked about how she became involved in the game--because of her brother). It was a really touching moment for me, since it showed me more character developments and depths about them. While in the anime Asuna was like a damsel in distress complaining(well not really) about her situation...I liek here but I need to go home feeling.

The other part that I also disliked was how the anime producers decided to lessen the importance of the fishing scene also, I really like the old man and how Kawahara-sensei showed the "slice of life" theme in the LN, which the anime didn't do a very good job covering it (it was mostly, oh hey there's old peeps living here, Kirito & Asuna saves the day yet again!). Oww, seems like pleasing the romancefans + actiontards and the lolicons is more important than covering the slice-of-life issues, can't blame it, 'cause that's otakus' society. Contrary to while reading the novel, in which the slice of life was more detailed, the anime was not that way. It was probably done so in order to not confuse younger audience. But Kawahara-sensei explicitly gave so many details that make you wonder...why did he bother? My impression of that was that he wanted to make the world "real", "possible to realize" (as how Akiyaba wanted to make...Aincrad real). So by giving that much details he pretty said: Oh if such things happened there will be no contradictions nor issues! Since I will be there to explain everyyything~(Just like with the children at the church) It was really hard to find any question UNANSWERED in Kawahara's works, as I noticed. He was really focused on technology and details. As if he said: Making those things is possible!

But other than those bad points, the anime had some good too. The animation quality is pretty sharp, although I wish that they used more frames. I did not like Kirito's hair for the ALO arc. No offense but he now looks like a replica of Sasu"gay"(even though I have nothing against Sasugay). I mean, it's far too generic! He now looks likes every single shounen battle manga braindead MC found on the street! Give him some originality!

So far the anime gave me the impression: Oh this shit is cool! but that's all. I actually like how the side-stories are portrayed more than the main storyline (in the anime).
The "core" of the series, I guess. I think that it revolves around how RL and VR is slowly emerging together and there is not much bound than you'd think. While the anime gives off "Kirito kun I luv u!" "I'll protect you!" vibes... though that is true in the LN also, but they've cut the importance of the series' core theme.(that got switched to romance instead).

My other complain is that it will be very unlikely that they will animate the GGO arc, please animate the GGO arc. I actually like the GGO arc better than every other arcs out there other than Alicization. And please do not ruin Kirito-chan and Sinon-chan's character design like how they failed Kirito's ALO Spriggan.

I also noticed that Kawahara-sensei really loves giving scientifical explainations of all the quantum particles stuffs, but hell he takes too much space. And I can see why the anime staff cutting some parts...THE PARTS that INVOLVES his... ...passion. I had my doubts since I started reading Accel World and the crossover, but ha, seems like the story revolves about it! (and Asuna is just a bonus/fanservice for the audience getting the hook!). Also love how Kawahara-sensei erm...dashed out his passion for controversial subjects and writing a whole clashing debate about clonage, human rights, warfare and erm...Americans(?) that lasted for almost half the novel. Wonder if he at least got a master for natural sciences and social sciences... ... But don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the Alicization arc, because the way it was written was so atypical that it became interesting in my eyes. At first I kind of dislike it because I was so confused. But after rereading it for a second time... the characters and the settings really grew on me. And finally I'm glad that Eugeo doesn't get to be add to the pseudo-harem of Kirito's... ...
