Compared to the modern shit we get from actual Western nu-writers, these stories are actually bretty gud. Morohoshi himself admitted that he had a hard time giving a new spin to the tales while still retaining the original tales' general structure and morbidity, so I'd give him a pass for a few of the mediocre attempts. The original fairy tales as the Grimms collected them were all, fittingly enough, grim - none of that Disney shit.

Some of the stories were rather mediocre, but overall, I enjoyed all the stories. Gotta say, though, that absurd stories creep the hell outta me. Brewery of Egg Shells was creepy as shit, and The Strange Inn even more so. I really enjoyed the re-tellings with anthropomorphic animal characters. It added an even more surreal air to the already unbelievable plots.

The first two retellings are by far the strongest. A shame the rest of them are so mediocre.

Holy shit.

Awesome!

I swear to god, that flounder at the end of chapter 3 looks like something out of a Lovecraft novel - or a Hellboy comic.

I think it looks like a very big smiling flounder.. of course it could be Cthulhu or something.

Fairy tail stories never a happy story in the first place. All those happey version of the story that people know is just a rewrite by changing the ending and all. when ppl said you can only be happy forever in a fairy tail is a lie

Now i want blood and liver sausages :(

Wow, that is all.

Actually, Sneewittchen was how it was originally spelled in the Grimm Stories.

I stand corrected then, you are indeed right

In der Erstausgabe von 1812 hieß es Sneewittchen (Schneeweißchen) (ndt.: Snee „Schnee“, witt „weiß“).

Well, not without a cause sheep and and goats are often combined to Ovicaprines (from ovis= sheep and capra = goat, latin btw.), they are cognate so much that it is hard to tell them apart if all you've left is some bones (it's possible to differentiate them but only at a few distinctive bones).

That's not how you write Schneewitchen, silly japan
