how did we go from funny dqn sol with some fighting to infinite tournament arcs

Otokojuku started to publish in 1985. Phantom Blood(!) started 2 years later, in 1987

Man, Otokojuku is so ahead of its time it referenced Jojo even before Jojo was published.

IS THIS A MOTHERFUCKING JOJO REFERENCE?

Hopefully this awesome series will get an anime remake, likewise with Kinnikuman and Hokuto no Ken some time in the near future.

Why are people re-translating chapters that were originally translated years ago?

The chapters that were originally translated years ago are in a language that appears to be English at first glance, and indeed is comprised of English words, yet its syntax bears no resemblance to any forms of English spoken by any people group on this planet. Instead it is a strange hybrid in which English words are awkwardly inserted into the grammatical structure of a Japonic language, with strange nonsensical phrases that appear to be direct translations of idioms from a certain Far Eastern culture. Whatever the language, they are certainly an artifact of anthropological significance, and may provide evidence of an undiscovered pidgin dialect of English.

Either that, or they're horrible direct translations done by someone who took a couple years of Japanese in college and thought that was all it took to become a translator, which were so awful that even a cursory look was enough to motivate a certain other translator who was a fan of the series to retranslate all 34 volumes from scratch. I'll let you figure out which is more likely, and if you compare them side by side, I think the new translations speak for themselves.

Someone with too much free time should compile a collection of all the fun facts from Minmei publishing company.

I apparently have too much free time

Just how many specialties does this school have?

There are some missing chapters, from 67 to 74 .

I plan to, after we're done with Akatsuki and Ultimate Path 2011. Date Omito, though, we will be working on sooner hopefully.

Great!!! Thanks for the hard work! I'm looking forward to Date Omito.

You think that's noteworthy? How about the third entry in the Otokojuku trilogy written by Miyashita himself starting in Shukan Manga Goraku this Friday?

how come few followed this?

oh lala... deliquents.. ^^

Translator here. I retranslated the manga because the existing translations are really wooden, and most importantly, aren't very faithful to Miyashita's style. I'm glad you're enjoying them, and I hope you'll enjoy our translations and the other Miyashita scanlations we put out.

Well, i was first confused seeing that already completed manga gets another scanlation. I looked a little better and its obvious that new scanlation have better quality at redrawing, i will not go into quality of translation because i am not qualified for that, but i must say that i was quite satisfied with Ardneh groups translations - at least i could get jokes, easy follow the story etc. and thats what is important to me when reading manga.

I can only hope that Hokuto no gun will continue this work for next 300 chapters, because this manga deserves to have the best posible scanlation quality.

In case you guys were wondering, this series is later parodied by this famous manga:

Reading this NOW!
This manga... is everything I ever wanted and then some. It starts off humerous and manly, then it gets actiony and manly and ramps everything UP TO 11. There's so much testosterone and manliness in this manga, when I talk, I have to inhale large amounts of helium, otherwise only whales can properly understand my insanely deep voice. The action is thrilling, the fights are so over-the-top ridiculous, and throughout it all, it stays manlier than manly.

It has good build up, good power advancement - yes, they get to superhuman abilities, but nothing truly supernatural - and is generally spectacular fun. This is a fantastic ride, and you will not regret reading it. It takes refuge in audacity, turns mundane playthings into deadly weapons (one guy uses a pogo stick and this isn't nearly the most insane), and somehow remains serious. Did I mention the manly? Because it's really, really manly.
Thanks. Just when I wanted a good long read.
Rest will hopefully be uploaded tomorrow, its 1:30am here i need some sleep.
