Good God, if Lord of Magna was RF5, then we dodged a bullet.

Mechanically it was a wreck, with everything being a damage sponge and the farm being reduced to a StreetPass gimmick. Plotwise it wasn't too bad for a Rune Factory-ish setting.

 

I believe the two are unrelated. Lord of Magna was just a separate project already underway.

It was something Neverland was working on before they went under. The team just continued on after Marvelous picked them up. The odds of it not having been, at some point, Rune Factory 5 are pretty low.

Apparently a Rune Factory 5 had been greenlit before the company went under, so odds are Lord of Magna was probably in part what they could throw together from the concept stages of that.

Well, that's what all the Harvest Moon / Rune Factory games are like until you lock in your route by choosing a fiance, however I don't recall ever seeing monsters turn into girls in any of the Rune Factory games that I've played.

Raven turns into a bird sometimes in 3. Also a mermaid in 3 if that counts.

Fire Emblem has you covered for all your dragon Waifu needs. And if those games and this one are any indication, it takes them a long, long, long time to attain a mature humanoid form. 

Venti was more or less like marrying the Harvest Goddess or Witch Princess. That is, if she was an option.

Please, let this be the mythic dragon girl route.

In RF 4, the divine dragon of wind has an alternative form (human girl). But you cannot marry her.

BRING BACK RUNE FACTORY PROPER!

I mean, Stardew/Story of Seasons are both pretty great, but Rune Factory was imo the best.

...I should get to finishing RF3 sometime.
