Well that was totally messed up in a very unassuming sort of way. Sometimes I enjoy NishiOishin's style of totally breaking up all expectations for "how a story should go" or "what kinds of stories should be told".

The beginning was really weird, but the ending is worth it.
Thats common in most cultures. Its fostered to discourage people from killing themselves because their lives suck.
Its only in rare cases like Japanese culture or religious/cult culture that; suicide = redeem/gain honor/go to 'heaven' (or equivalent)
