Hey there PageTurner followers! Today you'll see all the chapters go down for a while as I clean up the format here. From now on, each chapter will be condensed into one listing here upon the chapter's completion. We've uploaded a new wallpaper and coloring video on our Patreon account, so be sure to give it a view!

Hey guys! Just a quick update. I've posted the new 5 pages a couple days ago, still waiting approval, and once those 5 are up we have another 5 waiting in the wing to finish off Chapter 4. Really excited to get it to you and I hope it all goes live really soon.

Kept me turning the pages. Decent, but so far it's ending up feeling like somehow less than the sum of its parts to me.  The art is quite good, there seems to be some serious backstory and the prospect of an involved plot, the powers are imaginative.  But as a story . . .
I thank you very much for the lengthy and well thought out critique. As I stated previously, the first 4 chapters or so are dedicated to character intros. PageTurner never follows a single person or group; it's constantly a mechanical clock with many pieces. In the coming chapters, I assure you you'll see the "heart" of the series and understand why I did things the way I did.

Spoiler

Today's chapter upload is a day early, and we hope to upload future chapters on Sunday, so we're moving up in the week! We've also re-submitted last weeks upload to correct one page that was flipped horizontally (whoops!). You may also see some of the previous chapters come down and go back up as I slap our ad on the end of each chapter. As always, thanks for the reads and support!

And today's release (when it's finally approved [still no contributor status -.- ] ) finally wraps up Chapter 3. With next weeks chapter, we begin getting beyond character introductions and into the actual mechanics and current motivations of our characters :) This segment also ends with a new staple; our first full-page advertisement to allow users to connect with us via our site, Facebook, or offer aide in the form of our Patreon. As we get into the full swing of things, we appreciate your time and taking the time each week to give us a read. Thank you and as always, enjoy.

Next 5 pages are uploaded and awaiting approval! Enjoying the story so far? Visit our site at PageTurnerComic.com and give us a hand! Want updates? Like and follow us on Facebook!

I guess it's time to find a different site for my manhua translations. ^_^

In all seriousness, nicely done. The variance in the pages per chapter is a bit off-putting though (70 - 22 - 5).

Lol. Well I meant if it wasn't even in a manga-esque style... er... THERE'S NO WINNING HERE D: Hahaha.

Yeah, the initial chapter was supposed to be a mega-release type thing, with each new chapter being closer in size to Chapter 2. What we decided to do after that (and will now be the way we release) is about 5 pages a week, breaking up chapters until they're completed, then compiling them into whole chapters upon completion (current chapter out is 3.1, next week will be 3.2, and so on. Upon 3's completion it'll all be updated to simply "3"). Odd I know, but we think we should be able to maintain around 5 pages a week. Otherwise we'd be disappearing and reappearing a bunch, which isn't a good way to build a fanbase. Thanks for your interest!

And herein lies the key. I'm not limiting MY audience by doing this format. If it wasn't manga, it wouldn't have a place here

...those that preferred the right-to-left style in the English market are only the "hardcore" fans...

And herein lies the key. I'm not limiting MY audience by doing this format. If it wasn't manga, it wouldn't have a place here (or on the other manga sites that have now ripped off and uploaded it XD) and these are where the people I want to read it dwell. Moving forward Jeff and I never wanted to conform for the sake of gaining fans outside of the niche I foresee us fitting; a small subsection of manga streaming fans that have been itching for something as silly as Fairy Tale but as adult as Gantz. Anyone we gain as followers beyond that are just bonus.

Good to hear you are planning on improving. I look forward to future chapters then.
I have always believed that anyone that believes they're done growing as an artist has already begun to fail, and mediocrity is death to me. I know Jeff is doing his hardest to grow as an artist, and I'll always do my best to improve my writing as well. I thank you for your time and look forward to any critiques you post in the future :)

In order to reach the audience we're looking to reach, those that have grown up reading manga translated from Japanese and those that read Japanese manga natively, going right-to-left is a must. It's not to be pretentious or pretend we're something we're not. It's because someday I genuinely hope to export back to Japan, and in the meanwhile it's not hurting English fans who read manga regularly. As for your comment on the use of negative space; This is something being worked on and tinkered with as the series moves forward. We want a clean look that makes it easy to discern the information from the page and draws the eye to the characters. Thanks for the valid comment, though. And as far as Void's outfit is concerned? I can promise you it's not "bad design" as you described it; there's a reason for his clothing and speech patterns. I sincerely hope you'll continue reading until you find out :)

Going by this style limits your audience though, those that preferred the right-to-left style in the English market are only the "hardcore" fans, though this is based on very old information and only in the US market. Though it seems the English market was not your target. Well, it's up to you where you plan to take this, assuming it goes far.

I will say though that while the characters look good I do think the background art tends to be a bit too simple which makes the world feel empty

First of all thank you so much for your kind words :) Secondly, as stated in a previous response, the negative space thing is something being tinkered with and worked on. As we grow as author and artist so too will our work. Thanks for your interest :)

This is not Japanese manga, nor is it a translation of some other Asian comic, right? It is in English, yet it is still read right to left? This kind of stuff gives me a headache.

Wow this is actually pretty decent; usually random comics uploaded on this site are awful lol

Good luck on this comic though, good job so far!

Wait, wait, wait. This is not Japanese manga, nor is it a translation of some other Asian comic, right? It is in English, yet it is still read right to left? This kind of stuff gives me a headache.

It looks good, surprising for a self-publish, at least the ones you find on Batoto, nothing like that Gabriel self-publish. Too much white space, though, Japanese manga fill that out with screentones, try that out.

I've only read the first chapter, but it's a little... weird. So, it's like they're in a video game, but the people don't seem very NPC-like. The black guy seems to be wearing very modern clothes with a modern mindset, yet everyone else seems to be in the middle ages. Well, I guess I'll wait and see if this is explained or just bad design.

Ch1, p10: "I'M NOT NAKED!"... It made me LOL xD

This seems... interesting! I can already say that my fave character will probably be the snake guy... I'll just assume he's the Caduceus the other two were talking about when they met? Haha I always fall for the cool type (I'm such a predictable fangirl ;) )

Followed!

When I saw the title on Batoto's homepage the first thing I that came to mind was Sketch Turner from Comix Zone, haha.

Batoto bans people for being negative, so its a compliment.

Lol trolls gonna troll. To the rest of you, thanks for the support so far :) Happy to be bringing it to you.

Well, you're saying it's bad, isn't that negative? Or is that a compliment?

Anything that isn't a shower of praise is a 'negative review' these days.

Nice! Our first negative review. I'm saving this, it'll mean a lot in a few years :D

The concepts interesting and the action is cool. Looks good so far.

I can give a free pass to bad art, but bad writing is bad.

It's not that bad. It's interesting enough to wait for the next chapter to see how things go.
