Description: A terrorist group has declared independence on the South Pole, and they have placed extremely powerful nitrogen bombs off many coasts. They plan to take revenge on the world, by forcing them to live briefly in fear and then die. The US tragically failed to defuse the bombs. There are three of them off the coast of Japan, set to explode in 10 days. Luckily, the Japanese bomb disposal team has a powerful resource.

That resource is a little genius girl, Machida Machiko. She's looked after by Aranagi Nagito, a trainee bomb defuser. She's made a pact with him, and with the leader of the bomb disposal program, to clear out the bombs and clean up the world. After certain events in their first defusing operation, though, it looks like all they'll have left to use is a defusing program written by Machiko. Will they be able to save Japan and stop the powerful terrorists? [tethysdust]

Where the hell did the "terrorists" get the money and resources to build all that bombs. Operation on such a large scale was unnoticed by so many goverments? And most importatnly...that Nagi dude... what an a-hole! Breaking so fast a promise to a cute, little, innocent girl! Shame on him!

I think the author or translator got nitrogen confused with hydrogen......

The author has a fetish for bombs and it scares me.

bombs bombs bombs bombs bombs bombs

What the hell did I just read?

too many senseless deaths trying to provoke emotion from readers quipped with an implausible background story....

The science of dragon ball z, one piece or even any mecha manga is more believable then this. My logical side wont allow me to read this.

wow. that's a lot of markers placed around the world. and each of those is the size of a submarine? and NOBODY noticed them being placed? what was the navy DOING?

True but that doesn't stop me from enjoying stories with a somewhat plausible background more :)

The world's FIRST successful test of a hydrogen bomb literally erased an island off the face of the Earth. The device was so big and required so much equipment that an entire facility was built around it for the test.

A hydrogen bomb capable of destroying the entire U.S. East Coast AND flooding the continental USA would fracture the Earth.

The background is as plausible as using the moon to crush Eastern Europe and damaging nothing else.

How the program is not connected to the bomb, when the fact that the US failed hacking detonates the bomb?????

It wasn't the same bomb and as the summary says they placed several bombs along the coasts so while in one of them the program wasn't connected it was in the others.

This is just another case of the truth about what I have been saying all of my life:

"NEVER let the FACTS interfere with a GOOD STORY!!!"

I have no idea what SCIENCE they did in order to make one of the most inert elements into a bomb.

Unless of course the bombs have compounds with nitrogen in them such as ammonium nitrate, nitroglycerin, etc.

Just what i thought after reading this manga and went to sleep. Like .... how the hell ? Also, how come a SINGLE bomb , destroy an entire continte , its not like the USA doesn't have any mountain ranges which can stop a tsunami. And what is this tsunami, going over 1,000km of land and such ?

I have no idea what SCIENCE they did in order to make one of the most inert elements into a bomb.

Liquid nitrogen can be made into a bomb of sorts(which i do not recommend doing)

LoL , this deserves an "Overkill" tag xD

Haha, it's true about pretty much everything you said, and I myself was in shock after seeing my favorite character die, but as for the "another secret weapon", the description of the story pretty much gives that away:

Too bad the romance interest I was hoping for (similar to Blood Alone) ended in the first chapter.

Favorite character? What character? Shes just a placeholder until the story gets started isn't she?

The bombs are supposedly nigh impossible to disarm, theres dozens/hundreds of across the globe, the bombs themselves are literally defended by hundreds/thousands of smaller automated HOMING bombs and just for good measure the "secret weapon" of Japan sent to disarm the bombs is killed in the first chapter simply for the final page to reveal to theres ANOTHER "secret weapon".

First chapter seemed alright, hopefully things get better.

Clones... nuff said.

Spoiler

Doomsday for the sake of doomsday. The whole plot is a no-win scenario cranked up to 20 out of 10.

As if thats not enough, the bombs are located underwater, theres no ransom or surrender terms and the timers on the bombs don't matter because they automatically count down to a few minutes after they begin attempts to defuse the bomb. And thats NOT including the threat of booby traps (which the cast runs into in the first chapter).

FINALLY, because we need to hammer home the fact that everyone is fucked, the entire continental USA is wiped out before the title page. Literally. If it wasn't destroyed in the initial blast, it was destroyed/flooded/submerged in the ensuing tsunami.

I have no idea what SCIENCE they did in order to make one of the most inert elements into a bomb.

Duh, its a well known Manga-science. Havent you learn it by your 1st sci-fi manga?

I have no idea what SCIENCE they did in order to make one of the most inert elements into a bomb.

Unless of course the bombs have compounds with nitrogen in them such as ammonium nitrate, nitroglycerin, etc.
