On topic, so to speak, the only genderbender I ever liked was Kampfer, but I forgot which version hooks the MC up with the bookish/violent Kampfer girl. (I think it was the manga. I think the anime hooked him up with the chain dagger chick) She's my favorite, though I wouldn't mind a yuri harem. (so long as his first love interest is NOT involved!)

Those people are the types who probably see everything as offensive and most things as microaggressions and try to justify intent when non exists. For them, we simply ignore them. They are a cancer and do not deserve to be given attention.

If I had to guess, I'd say they're more objecting to the topic's existence at all. Making noise, basically.
You'd think otaku/anima/manga fans would be more tolerant of diverse interests given how often we're on the wrong side of that sort of sentiment in the outside world.
Personally, I love magical/supernatural gender bender as a subject matter and believe that not even 5% of its story and character potential has yet been tapped.
Then go find a manga that doesn't have a Gender Bender tag?
