Chapter 3 will be up on Friday (12/8). I'f you'd like to know why and also get a 3-page preview of the next chapter, I've posted it on Webtoons:

http://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/my-new-friend-is-a-cat/announcement-preview/viewer?title_no=123095&episode_no=7

Many apologies >__<

EDIT: Part 1 is up on webtoons: http://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/my-new-friend-is-a-cat/chapter-3-part-1-walk-home/viewer?title_no=123095&episode_no=8

I'll upload it on this site once the full chapter is out tomorrow.

Spoiler

Be sure you're comparing apples to apples on views--Batoto counts every page viewed as a hit. So the number of chapter views here is (assuming ~20 pg per chapter, and ignoring some details about poeple who read only a couple pages before quitting) roughly 300. If Webtoons tracks by chapter views then it's getting ~3x as many views as Batoto (which would match up with the subscription numbers).

As for comments, though, I think Webtoons just produces more comments than Batoto in the first place. For reasons. (For one thing, you're effectively reminded to comment at the end of every chapter in Webtoons).

There's definitely some truth to the visibility thing, empirically speaking.

On the other hand, I only actually read it once I saw it on Webtoons. I definitely have a "I am in the mood for manga" / "I am in the mood for webtoons" dichotomy in my head... or something.

Spoiler

As a side note, I'm now curious as to which actually gets more reads in the end. I don't know how to gauge reads on Webtoons, though, or even if it's available as a statistic. (This does have three times as many followers on Webtoons, but it's nearly impossible to re-find anything in Webtoons' challenge section so follows are also much more a necessity there...)

I'm actually starting to wonder which one this story leans more towards, webtoon or manga? in style, of course. I know it's not really a manga because I'm not Japanese. But it seems to stick out like a sore thumb on webtoons because a) it's not in color, b ) doesn't have one of the seemingly two styles that make up the majority of webtoons, and c) is structured more like a manga in pagination. But then on here, it looks a little too cartoony and thick-lined to pass for a manga despite it not being in color. But i've never had someone outright tell me that they just plain ol' don't like the art style (even though I'm sure plenty of people don't just because you can't please everyone).

As for which place it gets more views on. Definitely here. The views go up at least 500-1000 every update. Where as on webtoons I've just started to get 100+ every update. I only 1.4k views on Webtoons where I have about 6k here. But then again I have 20 follows on here, but 60 on Webtoons. BUT then I get more comments on webtoons.

All and all it's just the difference between website priorities, I think. Webtoons is heavily focused on commenting and following, while here people just come to read some manga and then be on their way (at least...that's what it seems like, I haven't been in the community long enough). So more people definitely see it (like it?) here, but then I think at least as many people would see it on Webtoons if it didn't get buried so quickly. But I can't do too much about that >__<

I do hope to eventually make some money off of doing this comic, I suppose if it deserves it (since making it is a lot of work to do), so I do have to figure out how I can get it to more readers at some point. I keep coming up to dead ends at the moment, though. But still, thank you for your interest in the comic :)

On Webtoons it gets buried under the constant flood of new updates rather quickly -- as most comics from non-featured artists do. I've been trying self-promotion but that's a pretty tough beast. I'll figure it all out eventually, though. I do only post it on here and Webtoons, though. So any other site you see it on (which I know there are some) weren't done by me.

Okay there seemed to be an issue with uploading the chapter this week, so I'll just post a double chapter next week. Sorry for the wait >__<

Update: All worked out now! :)

The timeline of this story is really confusing. Maybe its just the mixtape thing , but I almost believed this took place in the mid 90's until they mentioned Cardcaptor Sakura and Youtube. Its really tonally jarring. Still 1st chapter and its ehh...I think it needed a couple more pages to show the interaction between Ken and France. Maybe the later chapters would help that , but right now, its not bad...but I cant feel it .....yet. Hopefully that might change

I'm one of the people that gave this a low rating, but I'll admit it's 100% because of personal principals rather than the quality of the work itself. Although Batoto's rules for hosting allow (non-Asian) cartoonists uploading their own series on here, I personally have a problem with it because they never mesh well with the scanlated series that make up the majority on this site. Usually this is because it's just a really shitty comic, but this is one of the rare cases where it's good enough that I think it would be more successful hosted on its own website or someplace else that caters more specifically to creator published comics rather than scanlations. I see you've also got this series up on a couple of other sites, so I'll wish you the best of luck overall, and try to support you on tumblr and webtoon, but I don't think I'll be following this series here.

Thank you for the honesty :) You can most certainly read it someplace else if you don't want to here. Actually, reading it on Webtoons is probably the most beneficial for me. But still, I won't take it down from here, mainly because more people see it here than on Webtoons, ironically.

I dig this. The characters are believable, the set up is engaging, good variation in paneling (instead of just talking heads), and the dialogue is top tier.

Not a bad read. Artwork might not suite some but its fine to me.

That was pretty good. It's got this Judy Blume quality about it. The art can be a little uneven but all in all it meshes well and the line quality is unique. And the story flows great actually between each panel. Not sure why such a low score??

I had my hopes up with doing the mixtapes the old school way but it just proves how old I am..sigh.

Thank you very much ^^ And Judy Blume? I've never gotten that comparison before (I didn't know she did art?) But still, thank you for the comment.
