Description: During a flashback, an interviewer inquires Kuzumi Taiga, a prospective student for Seinagi Private High School, on what he would do if he could use magic, during his entrance interview. He replies, "take over the world", with an outburst of laughter, from an attractive girl, following his answer.
After the entrance exam, the school rejects his application; although he recalls almost nothing after this event, he does recall the girl, and believes the cause of his school of choice rejecting his application involves her.
Wandering around outside of the school the next day, Kuzumi tries to enter, but an invisible barrier blocks him. A teacher, Mr. Hiiragi, confuses Kuzumi for a student of the school ditching class and pulls Kuzumi into the school through the barrier.
Seinagi Private High School is actually a magic school and Mr. Hiiragi has just accidentally pulled Kuzumi, a teenager with no magical skill, through the barrier into this school.

I loved the manga itself, but if there isn't a sequel, that ending was really unsatisfying.

I think it's because this series is kind of legendary. I see it referenced when other mangas get axed, if it's a good manga that seems to really have potential. It's called getting mx0'd lol.

Fuck Shueisha! The worst thing is that the author once manifested his interest in continuing it in another magazine, but Shueisha denied it.

Sometimes I flicker by this page and get sad all over again.

The biggest problem I have with this series is that the protagonist spends his entire time getting shit on by the rest of the cast.
Outside of the mandrake, I don't think any one of these other characters would actually constitute a real friend for Kuzumi. None of them are willing to sacrifice anything for him, try to understand his situation, or try to help him with any personal problem. All they care about is using the abilities they imagine he has for their own use. It's only by his own selflessness that the plot actually moves. The guy is a damn saint not to just say, "solve your own damn magic test" and walk away.

I also find it bizzare that this school runs on Hogwarts logic and decides the best way to treat their underprivileged student is to make him a constant target. As far as a series about magic goes, I like the idea of plates and their specialized magic spells. The school itself seems pretty interesting and the magic lore is involving until the series was finished and it all just dropped.
Kuzumi made for a great protagonist, but apparently everyone in the world hated him more than they had any reason to do so. If Harry Potter was the boy who lived, Kuzumi Taiga is they guy who should have just gone home.

Sometimes I flicker by this page and get sad all over again.

oh screw you bato for having these "competed" mangas that is nothing close to something you'd call completed!!!! goddamit get a 4th option that is like.. "on hold" or whatever gah you're driving me mad at this rate!

oneshot: cool
chapter one: meh

From what I heard around. The bad ratings(due to OP,Bleach and Naruto's prime time) had an influence, but it was more about Shueisha wanting to publish To Love-Ru but not wanting to have 2 mangas of the type at the same time. What really piss me off is that the author has announced his will to continue it in another magazine these days, but shueisha gave the idea a big no and throwed our hope in the trash bin.

It's too bad, really is. You know it's funny, people say it's so easy to publish talent or to coach really talented players. But the reason it isn't is because of egos and people wanting to cut these guys off instead of letting them run with the talent. That's why certain editors or coaches seem to get all the talent and succeed with them, it's because they set them up and get out of the way and let that talent develop and succeed.

I really think Mx0 had the potential to be one of those long running big time mangas. Fairy Tail also probably got beat by OP and Naruto like everything else did, but it was allowed to run and now it's easily considered in that top category too. Magi is another one, perhaps a little less popular, but it is definitely successful. Mx0 could have at least been like Magi.

There is more than enough room for several magic related mangas, there are always going to be many of them around. People just like magic or martial arts a lot.

Roughly the third time I skimmed through the chapters again and it's still almost as good as the first time around. Still boggles my mind how something with so much potential got canned just because the readers didn't fill their survey cards right.

Reading it again and again.

Reading it again next year.

Reading it again this year!

hah 4 yrs after reading these manga and im still waiting for a sequel or an anime atleast

It was pretty good that's why. Probably my favorite shonen MC for this type of magic story. And the story really had a lot more room for potential. I mean who doesn't like the underpowered hero that uses his smarts, compassion and intellect who grows and winds up actually becoming more powerful than everyone else and faces off against the Ultimate Evil™ and beats it at the end? Fake it till you make it, while being unique on top of that.

It's called Kiss x Death. The subtitle says it's a "love/suspense" series. The premise seems to be:

Spoiler

Actually only one of them goes to his school.

What a twist. B)

I'll fund the sequel when I got rich. The mangaka be still alive when that happens. It's such a good manga. It's so easy and relaxing to read and yet at the same really smart and interesting. Fuck anyone who decided to axe this.

Mx0 definitely easily deserves a sequel. I love that he decided to pursue a real Gold Plate. The sequel can be about his new school. Kuzumi still has room to grow as a magician and a character.

And to this day I still wish someone can devised a better ending, so many un answer questions.

I've had about half the volumes of this for several years now, and finally decided to complete my collection. But apparently Shueisha doesn't reprint cancelled series, because new stock seems impossible to find online. Rather than find the four volumes I need, it's only available online these days as complete used sets it seems. Thankfully you can pick up that full set for like $10-15. So maybe I'll just gift the extras for secret santa next year :)

i bought the complete set in japan for a thousand yen, tottaly worth it even if i can just understand half of it in japanese
