Man Eater

According to Hox this collection of oneshots was from a combined collection of ManEater & Tetsunagi Oni which will be worked on next so if you liked some of the stories you might look to follow that whenever it gets uploaded

I think the kitsune is the most benign out of all of them, very little to no blood was shed

Because it's adapted from a Ming-era ghost story which was also a comedy. The original story went like this:

One night, a man was walking down a path where local folk said a fox demon liked to hunt her prey. As the path narrowed to a bridge, he suddenly saw a very beautiful woman on the bridge walking towards him. He paused for a moment, fearing her to be the fox. She too paused and seemed to be assessing him. Satisfied that the woman looked like a normal person, he approached her quickly, trying to offer his protection. At this, the girl suddenly yelped like a fox. This stopped the man dead in his tracks, as he now realized that the girl was a fox after all. In his surprise he gave a scream like a little girl, turned around, and ran as fast as he could. The next day, he told his friend about the encounter (the friend in this case being the writer of the book - a compiler of supernatural stories by hobby). That night the friend went and dined at a house of pleasure across the river, attended by two young ladies. When the elder of the ladies learned of his hobby, she asked her younger companion to tell her story. Well, the younger girl then related that, just the night before, she was lounging away at the bridge near where the fox-demon liked to catch her prey when she was approached by a young man approaching from the path. This startled her, so she came closer to see if the man really was human and not a fox. When she got closer, she saw that the young man was actually quite handsome and gave out a small yelp as she tried to hold back a giggle. Then the young man screamed very loudly but in a female voice, and she realized that he was actually the fox come to trick her, so she ran back to the house as fast as she could.

Honestly it was okay a solid 3/5 funny how after i read this i played Never Ending Nightmares which i turn my view around to a 3.9/5 because i love horror

A brief encapsulation of my own thoughts on some of the chapters.

though the first story had more depth and could have made a more interesting collection of stories if it had expanded on further on the Maneater species, which is what I believe many of us were hoping for.

The fat worms of the second story were another slightly imaginative and interesting concept.

However the artwork is clean and often gives his characters an otherworldly impression just close enough to human but slightly manic and unsettling.

Hopefully further pieces will be more interesting.

The discussion itself was just about the use of the eponym regarding the creatures portrayed in the first chapter. <: Your thoughts were not in vain, and who knows. Maybe they'll show up again.
Dat third chapter. I was expecting voodoo, not some 'Itchy and Scratchy' comedy...I wonder if the lore will be any more elaborate than what was shown in Chap 1.

Gah! After all that discussion turns out Man-Eater is a thematic term? Damnit!

If the child of a maneater is a maneater and it gets born by eating through the mother's womb, then presumably increasing the species population is daddy's job, not mommy's. The male maneaters would impregnate human women and propagate the species through the production of hybrids. The female's job is then to produce a purebred offspring who can inherit the full set of maneater genes to prevent long-term dilution and potential extinction. The females are stronger because the male getting his way with her is a death sentence, so she's able to resist them unless her own instincts call out to her to select a specific male and mate with him. This makes sure that only the strongest males (those able to overpower a female) or the ones with the proper qualities preferred by the species will be able to pass on their genes to the purebred line.

interesting well that make sense from a genetic. So what the does offspring do now? I would think it would have to rapidly grow or a consume after alternative still it can reach a stage to devour humans
