Am I just imagining it or does Honoka get smaller/younger as the series progresses?
Really wish the author would do a true epilogue to the series, like showing the battle between Ken and Grandpa...or the wedding...XD
I miss this. The cinematic martial arts were really great and I haven't found a true replacement yet.
I looked at Tokiwa Kitareri but stopped reading after a few chapters. It's just not the same. Also it doesn't seem to be that interesting, seeing as it isn't really scanslated (AFAIK).
I try to get into the author's new work... but it just ain't no HSD Kenichi
it was the story of the history strongest disciple and his relations with masters and Miu. And the last arc was really foreshadowed for sooo much time that it had to finally take place. The build up of Kenichi as disciple and his fight against members of Yomi. It was clear he won't hold a sword - hand to hand combat is his specialty.
The last arc was reaaaally awesome especially the fights - every single one, Kenichi's fight was the best of course,next was Michail and Shizune face off and then there was in 3rd place the Disciples beating the masters fight ! ( seidougou xd ),
I'm really happy with how the manga ended.
Not to mention the level of art and scene flowing - definitely off the charts. Times better than the other big fights ( like sasaki & rival , the battle of the two demons...)
Yeah I am very happy with how the story ended and I'm looking forward to his new work unfolds which is now released.

I have to say, the last arc was really rushed.
after being accustomed to long battles per disciple, the grand ending was rather underwhelming.....
Not to mention we never get to see master kenichi.....
I agree with this. The epilogue could have been a lot better.
Well, considering the name of the series is History's Strongest Disciple, there is some basis in ending it once he has reached a certain point. Granted, he will always be the disciple of his masters, but the main point was to show both his growth and the development of the relationship between him and Miu.
If you look in the last page where Kenichi is writing there are some photos. On the top you can see a wedding photo, but the faces are not shown.
But on the left there are some photos as well, Niijima among other suited guys, Renka in front of some building and then picture of a girl holding hands with parents, one of which has bandages on hand and other has the suit Miu uses. Pretty sure that's Kenichi's daughter.
This is a very common thing with drawn out shounens that go on forever, they have an unsatisfying ending that just feels axed and doesn't really have any closure. There was no sign of this thing ending then boom, epilogue chapter...
But yea this have been a long journey. This freaken story ended with the shortest epilogue i ever seen. A mere 20 page. LOLZ
I am starting to believe that the author just got tired of this series and just ended it because if it was axed, if the author was passionate about the series the page would be 40+.

this is ending with next week's chapter. after 12 years. really sad.
Having read the latest chapters elsewhere, I can say that this manga really goes downhill. Stupid plots and much more mindless fanservice ahead.

I'll eventually have to read it all I suppose. I read it and watched the anime way back, but haven't followed it since then. And I did certainly notice batoto was missing the last 100+ chapters since mangastream always has the latest...which I don't read either. I'm kind of waiting until it ends and batoto just gets it all, then taking a week or so to read it all through while on vacation.
