This totally grows on you. Asano Inio is a legend in the making...

reminds me a bit of Fables

That was dark as hell. Kind of creepy how they just easily accepted that lips guys death.

Given the quote at the front, I assumed the message is something like: We spend an awful lot of time and effort fighting our "enemies" and not much time considering those same flaws as our enemies possessed amongst ourselves.

 

With a possible afterthought of: And then from those flaws amongst ourselves, are spawned tomorrow's "enemies".

Sounds just about right along the lines of my thinking. You just breathed a fresher outlook on the message itself. To be fair, I was drunk (not literally) while writing that comment.

It seems like its almost like an allegory of an allegory  - like it is a spoof of his other manga.

Not sure what to make of this work. If there's any deep meaning, I've probably failed to see it. >_<

Was the whole point of this work to show that the heroes' work was utterly pointless because even though they saved the world, they ended up being neglectful of the world itself? Darkness will continue to rise because we choose to ignore its coming?

 

I did enjoy this work, though. I thought it was pretty interesting.
