Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang

Are there raws for more chapters of this? Or is this where the author stopped?

It's been on hiatus for a few years because the manhuaga wanted to get better at drawing. We can probably consider it discontinued though.

I only read a part of the first chapter for the novel, but I agree with everyone. In the manga Ping Ting doesn't even seem to like Bei Jie. There doesn't seem to be a 'Romeo and Juliet' thing going on at all.

I agree that that applies to most book/manga comparisons.

In particular I thought the novel better showed that ping ting actually liked beijie (that it was hard to leave and go through with her plans). There was more time spent laying out her plans to escape and the cliff scene way more dramatic.

I've read the novel (or the part that's translated), and it explains what's going on in the story much better than the manga.  The manga does a better job of presenting the characters, though.

So confused, I have no idea what is going on anymore, could someone explain the latest chapter?

This is nice but really hard to understand. Hard to tell sometimes if something is the name of a person, a title of a person/the prefecture they rule, or a name of a prefecture/kingdom.

From what I can understand,

Hejia = Hexia = name of Pingting's master?

Gui Le = kingdom that Pingting is from?

Jing Anwang = prefecture of Gui Le and ruled by Pingting's master?

Dong Ling = rival kingdom of Gui Le?

Chu Beijie = brother of the king of Dong Ling, kill them all guy?

Zhen Beiwang = prefecture of Dong Ling and ruled by Chu Beijie?

Hua = prefecture of Dong Ling?

Not sure if translators visit here... But:

On Vol.1. Ch.4, page 4, There's a person going around with a gong. The translation says "The air is humid so be careful with the candles". The actual translation should be "The air is dry so be careful with the candles". Not sure when this started historically, but people (servants for the most part) used to go around with a gong and saying this because things catch fire much more easily in drier climates.  

 

On Vol.1. Ch.4, page 14, instead of "Should I even go to sleep?", it should be "How can I even fall asleep?"

Ah...I think you'll probably catch more translation mistakes. Good to know though.

Gosh, his "split personality" (I can't think of the proper terminology right now) thing is really bad for the heart, all those present and future misunderstandings tsk tsk. Oh the melodrama...

I also find some of these difficult to understand because of not getting the cultural nuances and not knowing the history of these peoples. 

Ohh...since it was part of the song I didn't really put it in because I thought it wasn't significant. In chapter 07 translation I explained it though. Here's what I wrote:

Soldiers know fraud: Part of the song Pingting (always) sings. No counterpart in English. Means deception (any form) to defeat an enemy basically, particularly in war.

I'm enjoying this, but I'm afraid I'm missing some (a lot) of the cultural nuances.  Obviously.  It's like when I tried to read The Water's Margin or The Three Kingdoms Romance.  I needed to copy the footnotes and google every other line. <sigh>
