Well, mysterious or whatever, IMO a certain dude is really begging for a knee to the groin.

Yeah ... I hear you.

If you thought Urabe was "tough" on Tsubaki in comparison she was as sweet as they come. :D

So, this is . . . Mysterious Boyfriend Y?

Moreso this is an earlier work from the mangaka and is more reflective of his ... erm ... "style" that would later on be presented in a more "toned down" way in Mysterious Girlfriend X, but which was always in the background. Its kind of like his works (at least the ones I have read) have the same setting, and yet different ones allow different parts of it to "peek through" to different degrees. Here is a link to some of his other works available on batoto: http://vatoto.com/search?artist_name=Ueshiba%20Riichi

As far as I remember, in Mysterious Girlfriend X this setting peeked through the strongest in the first ep when Tsubaki saw the dream of his dancing with Urabe in it. There was also an OVA to the anime where the setting peeked through more than usual, though I do not remember off-hand if that sequence was in the manga source. In any event, with the common setting come common themes.

By the by, there is also an anime adaptation (one that I thought was not so bad, but was different than the source) of one of his other works: Yume Tsukai. If you like Ueshiba's works and want to get a different peek into the common background setting, including the unnerving weirdnesses associated therewith, you might check out that work. Discommunication and Discommunication: Seireihen have more of the odd elements while being closer in general storyline to Mysterious Girlfriend X.

an update? thank u so much simple scans!! i've wanted a continuation for so long! thank you SO much for all your hard work!! i don't think i've ever been so happy ... not since i found out rainoverparadise was translating 7seeds. the to be continued pics are adorable! i love matsubue ...

are you native speaker? wanna try?

I'm willing to try, at least for this series. You can email me at [email protected] if you want to discuss it.

ehhh..... our english is so bad???? well manga is very hard to translate, and i tried my best to remove all typos. dunno.

I notice typos, spelling errors and bad English and it causes me to stop reading for a second, like tripping over a loose flagstone. Let's see, in chapter 5 page 6 you've got "at PM3 today". This should be "at 3PM today." Same page a bit further down, "It''s" which should be "It's". Lots more like that, sadly.

Simple Scans could use a pre-release QA person and someone who's a native English speaker at that.

Still it's nice to see an old manga like this getting some scanlation love even with the bad English, the typos and all.

schthaxe has access to cleaner Japanese raws and TL. I think he'll be taking it over from here for now.

are... are you serious? this is getting updated?

:D

Thanks Simple Scans, this is one of my favourite series.

am i the only one that thinks it strange that the spinoffs were released and well along, yet the "main" story is only two stories in? i wanted to see matsube and togawa *before* the seireihen arc!

good manga so far (not very far :( ) and not yet as strange as her other stories

there are several reasons for this.1. Discommunication is very very old-styled (started in 1991), and outdated in artistic style. 2. spin-offs are short and this one is long. 3. Discom is significantly harder for translation, containing various mythological links. Well anyway i definitely try to release at least several chaps.

For several years now, I've loved anything by Ueshiba Riichi, and this manga is no exception.  I would really enjoy reading more of it, and, like SwanWire, would prefer to finish this before reading the spinoffs.  I'm really hoping it gets picked up again.

i've read the other sequel of this manga.
