Countrouble

I seem to be part of the minority here, but I actually found Countrouble to be a highly enjoyable and refreshing read; I'd even go as far as to say that it's one of my favorite shounen romances and my absolute favorite harem-ish shounen manga.

To begin with, one of the key qualities which differentiates this manga from a lot of its peers, at least for me, is how decisive and complete the story felt. Now, this is partly due to the influx of axed endings and otherwise incomplete endings which seem to pervade this genre, but I think its more than that. This is one of the few harem-like manga (and I call it that because I personally find that the romance is a lot more focused than traditional harems) which offers a decisive ending rather than an open-ended one. 
 
And more than that, this is also one of the few shounen romances in general which extend past the "chase" and actually features a growing relationship - off the top of my head, I can't think of any other shounen manga which does this outside of the works of Seo Kouji and Sasuga Kei. 
 
Additionally, I acutally quite liked the main character of Countrouble. He was, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, a decisive character who worked towards a clear goal. He wasn't ridiculously dense nor comedically perverted and reacted to a lot of situations with as much maturity as you can expect from a teenager. 
 
In particular, this is one of my favorite moments - a very nice example of thoughtful and self-sacrificial young love:

On the other side of the spectrum, one thing that did bother me about this manga was that some of the side characters felt underdeveloped at times. I don't feel like they had no personality or were blank caricatures, but it was certainly a missed opportunity.
 
While the actual ending may not have been totally satisfying for a lot of people (myself included), I think that this is more due to the fact that there was very little left to actually resolve as far as the primary romance is concerned. Many of the latter chapters had a stronger slice-of-life vibe as it delved into the developing relationship between the two leads rather than the chase, and while I don't see this as a problem, I can understand why someone else might.
 
Other similar manga that I would recommend are Seishun Forget, Iris Zero, Koisome Momiji and Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa.
 
TL;DR: I thought that this was a very refreshing read and while I realize that the majority doesn't hold this manga as highly as I do, I still feel that its an enjoyable and worthwile manga.

I like this one but am I the only who thinks that Kouta, Akino and Meiko would be better off without these damned witches? Sasara and Kukuru annoy me. They just make shit more complicated

this manga ain't worth the read, the main character just gets increasingly more pathetic the more you read. there's only so many times you say it is a misunderstanding, there's only so many times you can put with the idiocy of his excuses, and only so many times that he wimps out. 

Felt a bit rushed toward the end. And once again, woulda preferred a slightly longer epilogue.

But eh, was fine overall.

Definitely a better loop than Haruhi, completely satisfied, but is it my imagination that many good series ending recently?

no i definitely dont want sasara to visit me... yes i had this girl that i crush on for years but the only thing I had was only my old ps2 and a laptop (with a lot of emulator). if she claim the laptop, i'm gonna rage and kick her out pronto...

I agree, it is a pretty good ending.  My expectations of endings has gone pretty low.  Seems like every manga I read gets axed.  This ending has given me hope again...

But too bad Sarasa doesn't get to appear on the cover of vol 10!
