Type: Manga (Japanese)

Description: After his father died, Naruse Akira retreated into video games, and his mother retreated into alcohol. Naruse plays games almost all the time, getting him in trouble at his private school and worrying his childhood friend Hoju. He's incredibly good at war games because he is good at reading his opponents.

One day, he ends up downloading a strange game called "Revolt" onto his phone. It's a game that has him orchestrate a revolution, and the graphics seem incredibly life-like. At the end, he learns that he was actually giving real-world orders, and that the game was part of a scouting process for a company that helps to run revolutions. Now they want him to be their commander and help them save the world.

Random trivia. The name of organization Svet is Russian word for 'Light'

Nah, see the cover of volume 02, it's snowing and they are wearing ushankas. They're probably going to bring down some Russian bogeyman. Just business as usual for pop culture :D

Nooooooo remove vodka gib back cedar tree

They might put it to Ukraine or Yugos? It's not the 90s anymore, those conflicts are super slooow, more squatting around ceasefires than fighting.

No new tankoubons since 2015.

Seems to be either on hiatus or axed.

vol1 had pretty low reviews.

Well, well. Looks like red haired stepchild got adopted. I will finally see more of plot.

Hmmm... I thought I'd like this, but I cannot make my suspension of disbelief work because they chose real-world events that don't make sense. I'd have preferred it if they had used fictional countries and parties.

A successful revolution in Lebanon by the Amal Movement? Sponsored by an organisation led by a Western-looking man? Sorry, it doesn't cut it. Amal is a Shia ally of Hezbollah and they are part of the current ruling March 8 coalition, they don't need a revolution. If the West were to support someone, it would be the March 14 bloc, most likely Hariri or the Geymaels.

The idea is good, but I don't like the execution. It's a matter of taste, so I hope others can enjoy this. Good luck to the scanlators!

this manga dropped?

We do not have a dedicated translator for this currently. If we find one we'd be happy to continue it.

this manga dropped?

Wow, I'm jealous of the battery life on that phone.

Marginal Operations

This one is +1000% Chuuni

Marginal Operation

Singular... Maajinaru Opereeshon to be exact, but who's nitpicking? I am! That's who. At least I'm not chuuni.

(Seriously though, that one letter makes all the difference between finding it and finding absolutely nothing)

I wonder if Orson Scott Card was the first person to come up with this concept.

i forgot the name, but it's the one from ak-scans

Seems to me that there is another series with this same premise of a nobody who is recruited to be a tactics adviser out in the field, but I can't remember the name of the damn series!  I think this other series has the MC going to Afghanistan.

Decent start, lets see where it goes.

Not a bad premise, even if it's been done before. I kinda wish the characters were developed a bit better though, rather than it just saying:

"I have powers that are cool."

"This is my childhood friend who is probably ambiguously in love with me."

"I am an edgy motherfucker."

It got a bit better towards the end though.

I was thinking of Ender's Game as well.

Ender's Game, what-what?

The story really sends shiver down my spine. Hopefully the tension keeps up (and the childhood friend doesn't get written off :P )

All Im thinking this whole time was "Guys gonna get paid for this or?"

Hm so japanese to create a story based on suffering and depression * 3*

Still sound's fun Follow :D

Daaaaaaannnnnnng, I can totally get behind this.

and marginal operation(if it wasn't updating so slowly)

Now that's one helluva way of leveling up in real life - from a social do*chebag to a revolution leader!

Even though such things happen often in those countries but using a game to recruit is a real bad-ass method. Gotta hand it to ya Shinya-san ya just gave terrorists an innovation (just kidding)

Don't know what will happen in the following chaps but hey, news ideas(something that can be related to real life at that) are always welcome & refreshing.

Hoooooo, I'm getting excited - is this gonna become dark soon?(it's already a bit dark tho just not enough)

Thanks for picking this up!

Hmmm... I thought I'd like this, but I cannot make my suspension of disbelief work because [reasons]

The greatest disbelief I have to suspend is how this fucker plays games on an Apple iPad...

Haha, exactly my thoughts! There should be more fictional worlds that are similar to ours! That way you can explore familiar themes in an interesting new world to explore without your biased world view being as much of a problem and the huge risk of screwing up, not knowing your shit or current events unfolding unexpectedly. Trying to do current events justice is even harder than doing history right, even when you know your stuff. There are plenty of things that we will only know two or even twenty or fifty years from now that might change everything.
A fantasy world with new things to explore but also familiar and relatable themes is really awesome (I love it!). That's why things like exploring racism in the realm of elves, dwarfs, fairies and the like was so cool and interesting and why it's so entertaining when there is an entire system behind magic that follows laws and is a field of research in that fantasy world, like our science.

I wish this was a fictional world... So far Marginal Operation made it very clear that its setting is not dealing with current/real events and there is some fantasy in it, but I don't know enough to be sure yet.
