After watching the anime, I decided to read the manga from the start, not only it was worth it because i can see how the story ends, but also by its differences, and Murata's amazing art style.

Although I was a bit disappointed by how rushed the World Cup arc felt, it would be nice to see the matches a bit more developed and more interactions between the characters, I would be lying if i said that i didn't love every single page of the final match, and the ending, to me, works as a perfect conclusion to the series perfectly encapsulating everything that makes it so great.

Easily one of my all time favorite sports manga.

When does this manga take place? IDK any Highschool that has a coach Openly discriminating based on race even in 2004. Did the author think Racism is still that prevalent in 2004? I know they still Exist but jeez, their an extreme fringe.

As much as I love this, I'm at the match against the NASA Aliens and damn it gets uncomfortable. Especially with the 'Oh no poor widdle white man his racism comes from his sad backstory.'

Blitzed through this in the past two days. It was a great read, though I would've enjoyed a little romance, and maybe slice of life involving the side characters who faded into obscurity.
This manga almost killed me.
After a little background research it seems Japan are actually quite good at American Football (the results of the IFAF world cup should be somewhat discounted since the entry requiremennts restrict US players somewhat and they didn't compete in the first two).
In a slightly different direction, they will be hosting the 2019 Rugby World Cup...it does make you wonder what will happen?

YA-HA!!
Spoiler

One of the best mangas i've read so far!. Mixes comedy and action and sports in a really cool manner! Kuroko no basket is a lot a like with all the "powers" but it's just not funny...
the only sports manga i can compare it to is slam dunk, both masterpieces.

actually tho, forrreal? slam dunk and eyeshield 21 are both absolutely stunning in how they remain classics by appearling to all ages and groups while still managing to be extremely heartfelt and beautifully rendered - they dominate in terms of talent (but unfortunately, not popularity) on top of all the mangas i've read, not just sports manga, and one of the few that have made me cry

ah yes.... tq.....

Probably not, though I'm just speculating given the facts in this case.  You have to remember that much of this title was scanlated quite a while ago (the upload dates in this case are misleading, that's just reflecting when this particular site was coming into existence and bulk-uploading content, not when the scanlating work was actually done).

Especially the earlier parts of this manga, the work was done in the 10+ years ago range.......and scanlation has just changed drastically since then. Frankly, looking back at some of it now....this was done exceedingly well in comparison to other scanlation work from back then. You're probably seeing the best it can be.......I guess just blow up the zoom on your screen for those pages, what else can you do?   :D

Hmm, what's the policy on editing scans that are already up? Kinda want to go through and fix the areas where the text is hard to read. Gonna go check the forums.

As much as I enjoy this, and I do, some of the two pagers are hard to read. Are there larger scans anywhere?

i think juumonji would be a way better captain than sena

Ughhh definitely one of the best manga I have ever read. Art, story, comedies are all perfect. HIRUMA IS THE BEST I CANT EVEN. I WILL NEVER FIND ANOTHER CHARACTER LIKE HM.

A masterpiece I say ; v ;

I want another epilogue. Reread this again and Im still spazzing. But the ending lacks few info like

1) WHat happened to Kakkei and Taki?

2)Who is the Japanese that joins NFL? (That former NFL player said he chose one from each team isnt it?)

BUT I REALLY WISHED THIS SERIES COULDVE CONTINUED TILL THE RICE BALL SOBS

Chapter 332 has the most misleading chapter title in manga history smh.

Finally got around to reading through this.

It's disappointing that this didn't become one of my favorites despite being extremely amazing at certain points. It just never tipped the scale into full blown YES for me.

Some characters just got forgotten as the manga went on and it started to focus only on Sena, Monta, and Hiruma in the Deimon team. And while yes they were my favorites, it was disappointing that Taki, Kurita's Disciple, and the "Huh!" trio just kind of faded away with smaller and smaller appearances every match. In fact for a while even Monta didn't have very much screen time.

This leads into the fact that matches started to repeat themselves like other people on here have said.

The biggest problem with the series is that the allstar matches seemed to be fun but were simply skimmed over and rushed towards an ending which was completely subpar. I mean I was completely hyped for the team that got put together but then got let down when I noticed that they would do 3 matches in less than 30 chapters with the final match being roughly 10.

In other OTP news

Like many have said it was questionable about what Hiruma would do with the "fucking manager" and if they would end up together. Likewise for me the Suzuna/Sena arrangement was always cropping up with her giving him advice and lending him a shoulder when he needed it. Yet nothing came from both relationships. Even a small nudge would've made it worth it to me but neither pairing even got a slight acknowledgement.

For example when Sena was asked out by the Dino manager Suzuna mentioned that her relationship to Sena wasn't quite that of a brother/sister relationship. And that was literally the last time we ever heard about that. And that was in chapter 200's.

Likewise we had a similar situation arise with the Manager and Hiruma when he got injured which was ALSO in the 200's.

I guess the author forgot.

What a great manga!!! And I dont even watch american football.

Totally love Hiruma for his unique badassery.

Man I was feeling nostalgic so I decided to reread this series

I HAVE NOT SLEPT SINCE YESTERDAY. I REGRET NOTHING.

I love all the teamwork, the play, the art, the storyline (even though the ending was a little disappointing. Just a little, though) and more than everything, Hiruma Youichi.

Spoiler

I wish there will be something like a side-story or the epilogue of epilogue....

Well, time to read doujinshi.

I love this manga

YA-HA!

Holy shit Murata. Your action scenes look so fucking awesome.

Shin reminds me so much of Bruce Lee.

Love this one.

Allthough it got really repetitive after the second White Knights game and in my opinion never recovered to the standard it held before that game. That's understandable though as all build up in the storyline was for that game and every story had been told at that point.

Still high qualitiy and better than most other Sports Manga, even in his bad parts.

rereading for the 4th time... this manga is worth every second.

I reread it all in 2 days... fml I'm only getting 4 hours of sleep today...
