Alright, I am completely missing something here. Why did the MC have to apologize? Didn't he just save the girl from being raped? Considering that the family doesn't seem to be having money problems, you would expect that a broken window isn't exactly the most important thing at the moment.

The Japanese apologize whenever they enter a room and you wonder why they would show him apologizing for breaking and entering?

He's his boss, not his father.

Please reread the post you quoted; Your response makes no sense.

8 volumes and ongoing? How the fuck, the series could have literally ended right now and I would have been happy.
They got together in 9 chapters, what is this sorcery?

Yes
YEs
YES!
YES!
YES!
I AM PLEASED BY THIS!

Spoiler

I think this could perfectly finish the next chapter, how the author make like 5 volumes more, is it so popular?.

I hope it's nothing like Onani if it's going to have a terrible fucking twist that ruins the rest of the manga.

That "twist" aka the plot point that makes the manga dive into its central themes is what gives it so much popularity and critical acclaim. You're selling OMK short by pretending that the first arc which was pure comedy/parody is best part of the manga.

I'm not saying he's faultless, everyone on this manga have their own ego and they're not perfect. I'm just trying to highlight that not everything is as it seems and there are some hidden nuances/reasons you can find on their actions if you're willing to read between the lines. It's perfectly normal to be angry when you see something you don't like, just like the main character expresses it with lashing out verbally all the time, the boss expressed his irritation with letting the MC self-pitying himself. He also have another reason for that, to teach him a lesson, the hard way since he ignores normal persuasions (see how his sister told him to stop lashing out all the time and he just won't listen to her even once)

This guy gets it. Plus, the MC has a bit of a temper linked to his inferiority complex and tends to lash out with little provocation.

Why do I feel like the art is getting worse chapter by chapter? Especially, the PROPORTIONS. Usually it should be the opposite. Makoto looked way cooler in chapter 1 and both Rio and Maaya were cuter. But by chapter 9? Makoto looks like he turned 15-yo in some scenes and Rio's face got squarey. While I think the plot is actually good & interesting as they delve into problems of ppl who for various reason couldn't advance into high school. But the art and storytelling sucks. A lot of small details are skipped over. Especially there are jumps between scenes (or days, or time of day) that should've been connected using extra (/empty) panel or scene - they are necessary for a smooth reading experience, seriously! It's a real shame, because it could've become even better manga. :(

I hope it's nothing like Onani if it's going to have a terrible fucking twist that ruins the rest of the manga.

But that twist made the whole atmosphere so heavy. Rarely felt the pressure while reading, imo.

This is an old arse comment but I implore you to think about what Kurosawa was like within the first 10 chapters. Give it time man

Even if you consider he was forced, for whatever reason, to recruit his friend's son, it would have taken him 5 minutes to explain it to the hero. But he did give up on him as soon as he started self-pitying.

This MC is so goddamn frustrating to watch. It's a shame too because the premise of this is as good as the MC is terrible. It has potential to be Onani Master Kurosawa good but instead its only okay...

More like he was forced to give some face to his friend by accepting his son. From the nuances it seemed the boss was actually unwilling and unable to refuse the favor from his friend, I even felt the nuance from the introduction chapter of the annoying son.

The boss knew about the family situation, the little sister even keeps him updated on their money problems and such.
Then he gives the promotion the hero both deserved (for his hard work) and needed (they're poor) to a guy he didn't expect to last, only as a favor to a friend so that he got one more line on a resume that probably doesn't need it. And he considers it's the MC's fault for not asking an explanation.
Plus, hiring his friend's son probably cost him money. New employees need to be trained, the guy had obviously no respect for his work, coworkers, or even regulations.
I can't really say that's what I would expect from a 'good' boss.

The boss is best, IMO. Has the most sense out of them all. But, they're all still learning.

It's one thing to feel a little shitty because your life is rough, it's another thing entirely to give up hope completely without even trying to solve your problems in a way that isn't getting overly defensive and punching people. And if telling someone to suck it up because they're mad about not getting a promotion is "insensitive," I have some bad news for you about how job hierarchy works, especially in industry. It ain't fair.

Hell, the way self-pity can mess up people's perceptions and motivation, I'd argue that the people with the shittiest lives are the ones who need to be told to suck it up the most. You don't crawl your way out of a gutter by wallowing in it, making spiteful comments about all the people who dare throw their trash in it which is clearly an attack against you in particular.

That boss has been a fuck of a lot better than most bosses by taking the kid to apologize and acting the part of some vague father figure, instead of taking the normal course of action by firing him the moment he spent time in a cell.

Um... are we even reading the same manga? Because the boss literally said that he was expecting the MC to come and raise all holy hell about not getting a promotion. He would have then proceeded to explain that this being passed over crap was just theatrical song and dance because the person in the position had literally 0 chance of keeping that job. Yes things can occasionally be unjust and you have to deal with it. But, the point the boss was trying to make was that you first need to make sure "now" is one of those times instead of just assuming every time it's a situation that can't be changed.

As someone who works for a company that does masterful work of screwing over their employees I understand all about having to "deal with" bullshit like people undeserving of the job getting it instead of you. But, at the same time I know the score because I've already "had" my arguments with management and had nothing change so I *know* it's pointless. The MC didn't even put in that much work and automatically decided it was pointless to do so. One is sucking it up the other is giving up. The boss was just mad because the MC gave up instead of asking for an explanation first.

Umm, it became clear it was a rape attempt. The guy fucking confessed, how come he's not put in jail????

Because they are being stupid and “keeping it in the family”. That way he will rape someone else. Unfortunately this is all too common.

I get what they're trying to do but telling someone to get over themselves and stop feeling so sorry for themselves even though their life is a complete dumpster fire comes off as mean spirited and insensitive.

"Hey kid, I know your mom is dead, your dad is a piece of shit criminal who's reputation will follow you for the rest of your life, and you had to put your entire life on hold and work a soul crushing job to take care of your low-iq sister, but stop fucking whining about it and getting mad at people who treat you like garbage."

That sneaky confession.

Also, we're 5 volumes behind? Geeeeez I can't even imagine what direction the series will go in...

Life is insensitive. Who knows if that manager have even a worse past than the MC.

It took six months, but this arc has finally been resolved.

Its past the point of wondering why this has gone so long without being translated and to the point where im just too thankful the next chapter was translated.

Both of them have gone through different situations which could have been resolved with the same answer, speaking up.

But its all over now, and a new start has begun for the two of them...

Been a while, thanks for the translation

Atleast the mother is showing some form of remorse i guess? Maybe she'll actually start to pay attention to her own daughter now

and damn the best ship has truly sailed now, i'll miss the mother-daughter combo ;c (forgot their names)

He's his boss, not his father.
