Explanation of "Manga Science and Logic"...
From the Encyclopedia of True Manga Reality:

The core then shrinks so fast from this sudden cooling that it heats back up as the molecular activity immediately increases a million fold and this molecular heat friction causes the planet to explode in a "Supernova" type fashion. Thus, "Manga Pseudo-Science" trumps reality and allows for any possibility or outcome to occur.
And thus, you have been properly chastised for your reliance on such feeble tools like "Facts" or "Scientifically Proven" theories of reality!!! Now go back to your false idols of Einstein and Hawkings and pray that they can sustain you in the coming eternal darkness!!! May Junji Ito forgive your blasphemous soul!!!

Only stars(=suns) may detonate in a supernova if their "life span" ends, although they may also simply shrivel away instead.
